MEXTRI boards at the newly opened Selvita Research Centre in Krakow, Poland

14 of July '23

Selvita's new office is an example of how a suspended ceiling can create a design that harmonizes with the mass of the building, but also adds character to the interior. MEXTRI ceiling tiles in the shape of hexagons help achieve friendly acoustics. And their design perfectly reflects what the company does - they are like chemical bonding.

The new office and laboratory building belongs to Selvita, which has been operating since 2007. The company started as a small start-up, to grow years later into one of the market leaders related to pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, Selvita operates in both Poland (Krakow and Poznan) and Europe (Croatia). However, it operates more widely, including biotechnology centers in the US (Boston and San Francisco) and Cambridge in the UK.

The Selvita Research Center in Krakow, in which MEXTRI also has a stake, is to be the next step in the research company's development.

The world is chemistry

The specificity of the company's operations located in the new building is already evidenced by the façade of the new headquarters itself. The leitmotif of the design of both the facade and the interior of the building were shaped hexagons. Six-armed modules like established structures of chemical molecules decorate the glass facade.

They also permeate the interiors. The way how to render this motif in interiors was offered by MEXTRI. Our production capabilities allow us to cut virtually any shape from acoustic panels. This made it possible to install acoustic panels in the shape of hexagons on the ceilings. They are interspersed with lighting, which also consists of bright hexagons.

MEXTRI's bright SILENCER H panels are one of the main decorative elements in the calm, and color toned reception area. The main attention of users entering the company's headquarters is attracted by the blue and white color of the Selvita logo and precisely the acoustic or light panels suspended above their heads.

Advanced technology, advanced acoustics

At the heart of the new building are laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. The interior is also innovative. Care has been taken to ensure the comfort of scientists and all staff. One of the elements that improve their well-being in the building is the shaping of friendly acoustics thanks to, among other things, MEXTRI acoustic islands. Panels from the SILENCER H line are characterized by the highest sound absorption coefficient αw=1.00.

White MEXTRI acoustic panels were also installed in the employee canteen, where - as is the case in common spaces when many people meet - it can be noisy. The new research center provides workplaces for about 250 scientists, and their meetings during meal times will certainly not be as quiet as working in concentration in the laboratory area. Avoiding excessive noise will be helped precisely by acoustic islands SILENCER H. The geometric shape of the acoustic panels and lighting, as well as a map of Cracow on the wall colorfully integrated into the interior style, are the main elements of the canteen's design.

Elements of hexagons or circles also appear in the interior corridors of Selvita's office building, and their reflection in the glossy panes of glass partitions enhances the impression of being in a calm, orderly world of science, chemistry and innovation.
