The Center for Cultural Initiatives in Komorovo - the contest has been decided!

20 of March '20

The competition organized by the municipality of Michalowice in cooperation with the Warsaw branch of SARP has been completed. A Center for Cultural Initiatives will soon be built in the villa Komorow.

The jury analyzed more than 52 submissions. Among them, it selected three first prizes and one Honorable Mention of the Competition Jury. The main goal of the competition was to create a unique public facility, a major cultural center in Komorow. The center is not only to serve the local community, but also to engage it in joint activities to maintain social ties. The concept had to meet functional, pro-environmental and design conditions due to the size of the budget.

First prize

The award of PLN 30,000 and an invitation to negotiate without an announcement for the development of full design documentation with author's supervision went to the design team consisting of: Joanna Gajda, Casper Dam and Patrycja Kinga Wójcik. The jury appreciated the project for its functional and utilitarian solutions, as well as an attractive and coherent vision of the building. The architects took into account the villa-like development of Komorow, which can be seen in the presented design. Recognition was given to a set of pavilions allowing the facade and roof to be overgrown with greenery in the future, which meets the pro-ecological requirement. The jury also noted the designers' attention to detail and form of the building.

Second prize

The award of PLN 20,000 and an invitation to negotiations without an announcement for the development of a complete design documentation with author's supervision was given to Natalia Wilczak and Malgorzata Wisniewska in the design team, which also included Marek Kucinski. The jury appreciated the work for its simplicity and apt functional-utility solutions. The project is characterized by good internal communication, and the building itself is attractive to look at. It owes this, among other things, to the contrast of the dark facade with light window frames.

Third prize

The award of PLN 10,000 went to Piotr Kłoskowski Architekt. The work won the jury's appreciation for its high aesthetic qualities - the project fits into the existing landscape, so it interferes the least with its surroundings.

honorable mention

The jury also awarded the Honorable Mention of the Competition Jury to the M.O.C. team. Architects composed of Błażej Janik, Ewa Janik, Krzysztof Kaczmarczyk, Joanna Wieczorek. The project was distinguished by its functionality - all important functions were arranged so that they were located near a block of auxiliary functions. Thus separating them from the primary functions of the facility. The designers thus avoided possible utility collisions. The jury also appreciated the aesthetic qualities, the interesting body of the building and its interior.
