Weekend architecture cinema

20 of March '20

Another weekend finds us at home, and the only contact with culture is through the computer screen. Many institutions have opened up to their online users - museums, theaters, galleries.

Last week we wrote about virtual visits to Polish (and not only) museums. You can read about it here. Today we present cinema under the sign of architecture. The repertoire will include the greatest and most interesting contemporary designers, as well as a treat for fans of the classics.

"Daniel Libeskind. The Voices of the Site"

In this film, Daniel Libeskind talks about his architectural journey. The designer of Polish-Americandescent, author of, among other things, the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the Denver Art Museum and the plan to rebuild the World Trade Center, shows what architecture is for him.

"Bjarke Ingels. Different Angels"

The representative of the younger generation talks about his architectural beginnings, his great love for designing and building, and his greatest inspirations. A film about the courage to create and the true purpose of architecture.

"Alejandro Aravena. To Design is to Prefer"

The Pritzker Prize winner presents his point of view on architecture. He opens the door to his Chilean studio Elemental to the viewer and talks about the specifics of its operation, guided largely by the incalculable forces of nature.

"Balkrishna Doshi. The Symphony of Architecture"

Another Prizker Prize winner talks about how he became the man and architect he is today. About what design means to him and why he believes that a building is a living, growing organism.

"Bauhaus: The face of 20th Century".

The film tells a story that many people already know. However, it can be an opportunity to visit "good old friends". Architects, teachers, former students, specialists talk about what the Bauhaus was and is today. There will also be anecdotes, old photographs and many familiar faces.
