Architect Marek Niklewicz (1929-2020).

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Marek Niklewicz. The architect responsible for, among other things, urban planning projects for the F1, F2, F4 and D3 housing estates in Tychy and "Zlote Łany" in Bielsko-Biala died this week at the age of 91.

Marek Nikleiwcz was born on August 24, 1929 in Sambor. He completed his architectural studies in Cracow where he studied at the Faculties of Architecture, Engineering and Communication of the Mining Academy from 1948-1953. From 1953 to 1956 he was an employee of Miastoprojekt Wrocław, and then until 1977 he was employed at Miastoprojekt Nowe Tychy. At the same time, from 1967 to 1977, he was an architect for the city of Tychy. From 1977 to 1989 he served as head of the Regional Studio at the Office of Spatial Planning.

Marek Nikleiwcz was the author and co-author of numerous buildings, including the chapel in the cemetery in Tychy's Wartoglowiec, urban planning projects for the F1, F2, F4 and D3 housing estates in Tychy, the "Sikornik" estate in Gliwice, the "Zlote Łany" and ZOR VII estates in Bielsko-Biala. In addition, the architect was a co-author of the update of the general plan of the city of Tychy (1962, 1978) and the author of the design of the Tychy coat of arms, which functioned until 1989. Throughout the years, the architect was a friend of the Tychy City Museum.
