WIŚNIOWSKI has completed a project to obtain Type III environmental declarations (EPDs) for PVC windows, confirming their environmental impact throughout the product life cycle.
EPD declarations were prepared for two dimensional variants:
- EPD No. 61-1 for PVC windows with dimensions of 1.23 × 1.48 m
- EPD No. 61-2 for PVC windows with dimensions of 1.48 × 2.18 m

For us, obtaining EPD declarations is another step in implementing our company's strategy of sustainable development and transparent environmental communication. These are key documents for investors and architects seeking to meet the requirements of building certifications such as BREEAM and LEED. In order to obtain a Type III environmental declaration, we had to verify, among other things, the amount of raw materials required to manufacture the product, the energy intensity of the production process, water and electricity consumption, data on emissions to water, soil and air, and the amount of waste generated throughout the cycle. After we provided this information, the certification body verified the data and performed a product life assessment in accordance with the requirements of EN ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards
- says Karolina Dorula-Mamala, Head of Product Testing and Certification and ESG Project Manager.
More EPD declarations planned
As the company reports, WIŚNIOWSKI is not slowing down and has already announced work on obtaining further environmental declarations. They are planned for steel and aluminum joinery, as well as insulating glass units, in the first and second quarters of 2025. Thanks to these activities, one of the largest manufacturers in the Nowy Sącz area is strengthening its position in sustainable solutions for modern construction, increasing its competitiveness in the market and responsibly developing the future of the industry. To date, the company has obtained Type III environmental declarations called EPDs from the Building Research Institute for its flagship products, i.e. fence gates, industrial gates, segments and VEGA panels.

As a reminder, a Type III EPD Environmental Declaration is a document showing the actual environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle. Thanks to such declarations, manufacturers, contractors and architects are provided with transparent information about the building material in order to consciously choose them for their investments.
