Athenasoft has published the KNR AT-63 catalog, “District Heating Networks Using Pre-insulated Steel Pipes,” which sets forth the rules for calculating the cost of work related to the construction and modernization of district heating networks using pre-insulated steel pipes. Published in August 2026, this publication supplements the KNR 2-20 catalog, which has been in use for many years.
The new catalog was prepared with cost estimators, designers, contractors, and investors in mind. It covers the installation of pre-insulated pipelines, fittings, and valves, including elbows, tees, reducers, fixed points, and shut-off valves. A separate chapter is devoted to the insulation of welded joints using slip-on and wrap-around sleeves, as well as the installation of heat-shrinkable end caps.
KNR AT-63 is distinguished by its clear structure and detailed classification of components by nominal diameter. The catalog covers diameters ranging from DN 20 to DN 500, and up to DN 600 for piping systems. Various variants of pipe fittings and valves are also included, allowing for a more precise alignment of cost estimates with design solutions and market prices.
One of the catalog’s main objectives is to separate the costs of installing pipes, fittings, and valves from the costs associated with joint insulation. This makes it easier to align cost estimates with the actual parameters of the materials used, without the need for time-consuming modifications to cost estimate items.
The catalog covers installation work related to the construction of pre-insulated networks; however, additional work—such as earthwork, drainage, formwork, reinforcement, or concrete pouring for fixed points—should be priced based on separate catalogs.
KNR AT-63 is available in the Norma EXPERT and Norma STANDARD software starting with version 5.17.300, as well as in the EKoszt application.
