Karol Zurawski has won the competition for the design of the Municipal Auditorium in Rzeszow!

The results of a competition to develop a concept for the Municipal Auditorium, to be erected in the heart of the city, were announced at Rzeszow City Hall on November 16. The competition was won by a design by Karol Zurawski, characterized by a simple form and the use of recycled bricks.

The competition was organized by the Municipality of the City of Rzesz ow in cooperation with the Rzeszow Branch of the Association of Polish Architects.

As mentioned in the regulations, the competition proposal was to be not only functional, but also visually attractive, standing on a high artistic level. The building will stand next to the city hall and is to complement the development of the market and be a recognizable spatial sign that fits in with the Rzeszow slogan "City of Innovation."

The competition received 103 applications, from which the jury selected 15, and then 7 for final evaluation. The jury consisted of:

  • Jerzy Szczepanik-Dzikowski - chairman of the jury, SARP Warsaw Branch,

  • Wojciech Fałat - referee, SARP Branch Rzeszów,

  • Bartłomiej Nawrocki - SARP Branch Katowice,

  • Tomasz Kudła - SARP Branch Rzeszów,

  • Janusz Sepioł - judge on the side of the Contracting Authority, Municipal Architect of Rzeszów,

  • Katarzyna Leśko - judge on the side of the Employer, acting Director of the Architecture Department of the City of Rzeszów,

  • Agata Podolec - secretary of the competition, SARP Branch Rzeszów.

First Prize in the amount of PLN 50 thousand and an invitation to negotiate a sole-source contract for the performance of a service based on the selected competition work was awarded to Karol Zurawski.

Thesecond prize of 40 thousand zlotys was awarded to the team consisting of: Cezary Szpytma, Magdalena Szpytma, Joanna Matraszek, Michal Matraszek, Karolina Broda.

Third Prize and PLN 30 thousand was awarded to the studio Grupa MOC Architekci.

Two equal honorable mentions in the amount of PLN 10 thousand each were awarded to the teams: Jakub Gołębiowski, Romea Muyń and Jakub Magoń and Krzysztof Drozd.

The competition for the concept of the Rzeszow City Auditorium was announced in July this year, and the eventual start of construction is planned for 2025.
