Sustainability the theme of Light(s) on tour organized by Zumtobel Group

19 of September '22

"There is no darkness so dense, so threatening or so difficult that it cannot be overcome by light." Vern P. Stanfill
Light, even if we don't pay attention to it, influences how we look at the world and our relationships with other people. It allows us to create the right functioning environment and create reality. It can stimulate the imagination, influence emotions, bring out the best in architectural objects and spaces. Not only does it give a sense of security, but also, if it takes into account a person's diurnal rhythm, it increases productivity. It naturally stimulates the brain and activity.

Since its inception, Zumtobel has put people and their needs first, which is why it designs lighting to be as close to natural conditions as possible. After all, the purpose of the Zumtobel brand's existence is to improve the quality and comfort of people's lives in the long term.

The Zumtobel Group takes great care to ensure that its lighting solutions serve not only current but also future generations. This is particularly evident in the way luminaires are designed, where Zumtobel consciously uses high-quality materials with the aim of enabling them to be used as raw materials in the next generation of products.

The best example showing that the closed-loop economy is very important to Zumtobel is the fact that it is the first professional lighting manufacturer to obtain Environmental Product Declarations for all its solutions.

In addition, the company is taking a whole series of measures to organize production in such a way as to be as planet-friendly as possible. Already today, most of the Zumtobel Group's production facilities use electricity produced from renewable energy sources. In the last year alone, the Group has managed to cut its carbon dioxide emissions in half, an important step toward achieving the 2025 climate neutrality target for all its production facilities.

With a consistently developed strategy, the Zumtobel Group is providing solutions to achieve up to 82% savings in electricity costs.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of Zumtobel Group's business and therefore also became the theme of the Group's latest event in Warsaw, Light(s) on tour. On September 8, the Koneser Prague Center hosted an exhibition of lighting solutions offered by the Group's two leading brands, Zumtobel and Thorn, for a variety of applications, including offices, sports venues, cultural and arts institutions, industry, retail, parks and roads and streets. The exhibition was accompanied by lectures given by guests invited by Zumtobel Group.

Maciej Lewandowski of the Zumtobel Group, lighting designer, product development manager and privately passionate about architecture, talked about the role of light and its impact on human functioning.
