The international conference "Architectural Policies as a European Standard", an event included in the program of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council, is behind us. Participants of the three-day conference (which lasted from June 10 to 12 this year) looked for ways to shape architectural policies at different levels, with particular attention to the local level, closest to the people.

The main sessions of the conference, organized by the City of Gdansk and the Ministry of Development and Technology, were held at the Institute of Urban Culture in Gdansk and attracted nearly 200 people (and 500 online viewers).
Speakers at the event included Markus Hedorfer, President of the European Council of Spatial Planners, who talked about the rules and regulations of spatial and architectural policies, Janusz Sepioł, Architect of the City of Krakow, in his speech described the role of the Pact for Space in urban architectural policies, Carl Bäckstrand, Vice President of the European Council of Architects and Director of White Arkitekter, discussed the impact of the New European Bauhaus on the daily work of an architectural office, and Malgorzata Tomczak, Editor-in-Chief of A&B referred to the formation of architectural policy on a local scale. Agata Twardoch, City Planner of the City of Gliwice, talked about who a city architect is, and Jacek Barski, Architect of the City of Wroclaw, talked about what a person in this position can actually do.
