StoDeco - a comprehensive system of architectural elements

The creativity of architects is often limited by the lack of suitable products to facilitate the embodiment of the most daring visions. This applies to both new and renovated buildings, where an additional challenge may be the need to meet the stringent requirements of the conservator of monuments. With a view to the attractive finishing of facades and interior walls, the Sto sp. z o.o. brand. has created StoDeco - a comprehensive system of architectural elements that, in addition to their versatile use, are distinguished by their attractive appearance, excellent performance characteristics, and are additionally created with respect for the environment.

An extensive range of elements for versatile use

The StoDeco system is a complete set of architectural elements that allow you to produce decorative details on facade surfaces and in building interiors. The products of the StoDeco line can be used to decorate facades that form the supporting substrate, renovate and modernize old buildings, including those subject to conservation protection, but also in new construction for a unique visual effect.

The system includes moldings of the most diverse shapes, panels with different types of edge finishes (flat without gaps, beveled on two or four sides, and reliefs), details such as geometric and amorphous solids and alphanumeric signs, as well as cornices, sills or window frames. It is also possible to produce specific elements tailored to the adopted architectural concept - a specific effect is achieved using a 5-axis CNC machine tool, which, thanks to the use of an appropriate cutter (square, conical, spherical or for rounding corners), is able to cut three-dimensional shapes from the panels.

If there is a demand for details of a more complex design, such as complex molds with undercuts, they are obtained through a casting process. Thus, it is possible to create replicas of original architectural details, massive elements such as heads, bases, columns or sills, arches with different cross-sections, spans and radii, as well as elegant rustications made as panels of different thicknesses and rustications with pasting technology, reproducing only the shape of the gouge on the facade of the building.

Such a wide range of available elements makes it possible to design even the most sophisticated facades or to decorate interiors in a striking manner, thereby enhancing their aesthetic value. It is also worth noting that StoDeco architectural elements resemble by their appearance those created from concrete. The finished details are mounted on the facade insulation system in accordance with the specifications, and then covered with a suitable top coat. In order to preserve the natural effect, they can be finished only with a transparent protective preparation, but they can also be painted with facade paints in any colors or covered with smooth or structural plasters, which will allow to obtain an original texture (for example, similar to sandstone) and rich colors.

Eco-friendly material with excellent technical performance

StoDeco architectural elements are made of Verolith - a homogeneous mineral material of low weight, the composition of which is more than 90% perlite, a rock of volcanic origin. It is a unique material composition consisting of a lightweight filler material (aluminosilicate microgranules derived from recycled materials) and binding agents.

StoDeco elements are therefore environmentally friendly, as they are based on natural raw materials and recycled products. Their advantage is also their low weight, 550 kg/m³, which significantly facilitates installation and reduces the load on the structure. The finished details, made at the manufacturing plant and delivered to the construction site, are then glued whole-surface to the facade with StoDeco Coll system adhesive to ensure tight joints. In the case of larger elements, it is possible to make them as hollow profiles, hollow inside, which reduces their weight and significantly simplifies installation. For an overhang of ≥ 50 mm, additional fastening to the facade with dowels or aluminum consoles is recommended. Importantly, Verolith is a very homogeneous material - any additional mechanical processing at the construction site (cutting, grinding) is easy and does not negatively affect the appearance of the elements, especially since this raw material is also resistant to mechanical damage.

Among the significant advantages of the StoDeco architectural profile system, it is also worth mentioning their resistance to chemicals, bacteria, fungi, lichen or algae - all this makes them extremely durable and maintains an attractive appearance even after many years. In turn, the lack of water absorption(resistance to moisture) allows them to be used in bathrooms, swimming pools and other places with high humidity. The system is also distinguished bytotal frost resistance and an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion, which avoids cracks and fissures commonly found in other profiles. In addition, they guarantee safety in the event of fire - as they are classified as non-flammable.
