Wrapped in sunshine. Family apartment in urban jungle style

16 of October '23

A charming location on the western outskirts of Wroclaw tempted a family of four to buy their dream apartment. Situated among low-rise buildings, the multi-family building, surrounded by greenery, turned out to be an ideal place to live, and the apartment itself located on its 2nd and 3rd floors - a refuge and oasis.

Thanks to its exposure to the sunny side of the world, the interiors are soothed by the sun's rays all day long, and everyday life goes on here surrounded by beautiful design elements and amidst numerous green plants. This is undoubtedly thanks to interior designer Monika Staniec, Geberit brand ambassador, who made sure that every detail reflected the spirit of the design style, which is the urban jungle chosen by the investors.

The interior design was created for a family of 2+2: parents and two daughters. They turned to interior designer Monika Staniec on the recommendation of friends to whom she had previously designed a loft-style apartment. However, in the case of this interior, the idea was to create a cozy, modern interior in an urban jungle climate. The owner of the apartment, Agnieszka Romańczuk-Szatkowska, is an instructor of breathing techniques and the Wim Hof Method, so the design direction - in harmony with nature - turned out to be an obvious choice.

The clients were very clear about their expectations: an interior with plenty of quality materials, ergonomic and functional. Sounds like the needs of almost all my clients, but the above expectations also included the statement "we trust you in the proposals". - recalls interior designer Monika Staniec.

After presenting the first ideas, concepts, the investors caught a common language with Monika Staniec. They entrusted her with the interior design of their future home, accepting new proposals one by one. Of course, these proposals were followed by solid arguments from the interior designer and strong material and spatial proposals. Mutual trust built the most beautiful home they could have dreamed of.

The apartment measures more than 100 sqm, and consists of an entrance hall with a staircase, a living room with a dining room, a kitchenette, two bedrooms on the lower level, an office with the option of a guest room, a bathroom, a laundry room, and a bedroom and bathroom on the upper level. The whole area has been arranged in such a way that the zones flow visually and aesthetically. Materials have been used according to the "less is more" idea, interweaving through the various rooms and creating a striking whole. Attention should be paid to the floorboards from Kaczkan, which form a natural base for the other materials such as concrete slabs on the walls in the hallway and staircase, antique mirrors in the kitchen and hallway, tiles with concrete drawing and beige stone resembling travertine.

In the kitchen space, the interior designer suggested striking green fronts, which correspond perfectly with the gold cabinets and hood from Ciarko Design. Detailing in the form of black lines on the edges of the countertop, is enhanced by gold elements just below the countertop. The black handles work well visually with the appliances and the classic bar chairs filled with rattan. This material is also repeated in the chairs at the dining table. And the table itself is a vintage piece of furniture, having arrived with the owners from a previous apartment. The spaciousness of the living area was added by the procedure of introducing an entrance to the office from the dining room. Inserting a glass door there enhances the effect, while providing a sound barrier to work. An impressive and very comfortable sofa in a shade of broken white, is the perfect complement to the living room. Just above it stretches a shelf, on which stands a large number of plants (this number is constantly increasing).

Plants play an important role in an urban jungle type interior. They also stand next to the table, the entrance to the office. However, this is not the end of nature in the interior. The master of the house also fulfilled his dream of an aquarium, with which he complemented the dining area, says Monika Staniec.

An interesting and rather difficult element to design in the interior turned out to be the staircase. The space and size of the opening prepared by the developer were cramped, small, and in addition, the hallway lacked storage space. Monika Staniec, however, found a way around this! The staircase took on a peculiar shape, the treads were set at a slant, the balustrades are glass, and there was room for capacious shoe drawers under the stairs. In the hallway, on the other hand, clothes closets were built in the original place where the entrance to the office was. Here there are no haphazard elements, everything is well thought out and in accordance with the needs of the household members.

The first floor also included a bathroom, which has a very natural resonance. Beautiful and quality tiles were used as a base for neutral-colored furniture and ceramics. The architect decided to choose products from the Geberit ONE series and the Geberit Smyle Square double washbasin - with two daughters, this is an essential piece of equipment.

On the other hand, entering the apartment floor, one is greeted by a huge space that makes up the bedroom and bathroom. This is the owners' intimate zone. The bathroom has a shower with a CleanLine linear drain from Geberit, brilliantly installed, right against the wall. Also from this manufacturer's range is a washbasin from the Geberit Variform series and a Geberit ONE bowl, also with a DuoFresh module that takes unpleasant odors out of the room. The bathroom has a fair amount of storage space, both in the drawers under the sink cabinet and in the built-ins just above the toilet rack. This allows the owners to enjoy comfort in all its dimensions.

Creating interiors for people who are aware of the value of an interior designer's work is the best that can happen in this job. Trust in such collaborations takes on another dimension. The best interiors are created, which are home to the clients," says Monika Staniec, summing up the cooperation in the design of an apartment in the style of an urban jungle.
