Superstructure and reconstruction of an outbuilding, 49C 3 Maja St.
designed by NMS Architekci

The awarded building is located in the very center of Poznań, adjacent to the Polish Theater on the west side and closing the theater frontage on the south side.

As the jury's justification reads:

The construction was the culmination of a public-privatecooperation, implemented in an innovative formula, of many years of activities and efforts of investors related to the revitalization of an intimate urban interior. Destroyed during the war, rebuilt in a flawed form and tarnished by post-war additions, garages and barracks, like many Poznań backyards, it was finally developed. The result showed one of the directions and ideas for the effective revitalization of downtown Poznań by rebuilding neglected and underinvested Poznań outbuildings and courtyards into intimate, green interiors that increase the comfort of residents and improve the quality of the city.

This is a very personal project, preceded by years of difficult preparations, in the success of which few believed, and sometimes we ourselves had doubts. In this courtyard before the war my grandfather opened his bakery-bakery, winning with it the hearts and palates of Poznan citizens. After the war, the family business was run by his wife, and years later it was appreciated by Stanislaw Baranczak himself. However, the bakery did not survive the times of the People's Republic of Poland, but we are left with a great sentiment for this place. The road to today's success was winding and bumpy, and could not have succeeded without excellent cooperation with the city of Poznań. Thank you for your courage in making difficult decisions," said Natalia Stępień, an architect at NMS Architects.
