In Tarnow, the expansion of the wards of the St. Luke's Regional Hospital and the construction of a new Central Operating Theater is underway. Cemex Poland has its share in this key project for the city - Vertua® cements with a reduced carbon footprint, produced at the Rudniki Cement Plant, have been used in the production of concrete. These are reduced-emission products that are part of Cemex's global strategy "Future in Action," which aims to reduce climate change.
The investment, worth more than PLN 100 million, is one of the largest projects of its kind in the history of the Tarnów hospital as well as the region. As part of the ongoing project, a pavilion with an area of 6,300 sq m is being built, which will include, among others, 3 operating rooms, 2 treatment and diagnostic rooms, as well as expanded wards: neurology and anesthesiology and intensive care. The assumed effect of the project is to improve the quality and efficiency of surgical treatment, especially in oncology.
The Krys-Maks concrete plant responsible for constructing the pavilion appreciated Cemex Poland's products. CEM III/A 42.5 N - LH/HSR/NA and CEM II/B-S 42.5 N - NA cements produced by Cemex from the Rudniki cement plant were used for the concrete. These are products characterized by a reduced carbon footprint with the Vertua Lower Carbon mark. This mark is given to cements with a precisely selected composition of ingredients, produced with a significant share of high-quality mineral additives, which make it possible to significantly reduce the clinker content and achieve excellent technical parameters.
The investment underway in Tarnow is a key infrastructure project for the city and the region. The expanded hospital will increase the availability of medical services offered to residents. We are pleased that as Cemex we have contributed to a project of such great importance to the local community. An additional source of satisfaction is the fact that our low-emission cements were used to build the hospital, which will lower the carbon footprint of the entire investment

Since July, when concreting began, the pavilion construction site has already poured approx. 4,000 m³ of concrete mixture. Currently, the investment is at the final stage of shell and the work is scheduled to be completed in June 2026.
