Office buildings instead of greenery in Kraków's Czyżyny district

25 of May '20

The city of Krakow has new plans - it wants to put a 1.16-hectare plot of land in Czyżyny, valued at PLN 12.5 million, up for sale. The sale of the land must be approved by the city council - so far the votes among councilors are divided. The green area could be home to many different species of plants and animals, including protected ones.

The green area is located near Nowohucka, Strumyk, Dolnomlynska and Poleska streets. According to Krakow officials, although it is a naturally valuable area, it is unlikely to serve the recreation of residents.

Office buildings up to 32 meters high are expected to be built in the area. In the development plan, it was designated for services. In order for it to be realized, city councilors would have to give their approval. The amount from the sale would be important for the city's budget - every year income from similar transactions is of great importance for Krakow.

Every year there is a decline in green areas in Krakow, which cannot be said about the construction of office buildings. So we are waiting for the councilors' decisions with bated breath.
