Poland inaugurates International Garage Door Day

16 of September '25

September 18 is the first time the International Garage Door Day has been celebrated in Poland. The initiator of the holiday is the WIŚNIOWSKI brand - a leader in the production of gates, windows, doors and fences.

Although the garage door remains in the shadows on a daily basis, it is the one that often determines the safety and comfort of homeowners. Regularly opened and closed, it provides property protection, thermal insulation and everyday convenience.

The garage door is the silent hero of our homes. It protects not only what is in the garage, but also ourselves. However, like a car, it requires periodic maintenance to operate trouble-free for years. We wanted this day to remind us of its role - not only practical, but also symbolic, because the garage is a place where passions are often born: from DIY to motorization," stresses Monika Młynarczyk, WIŚNIOWSKI marketing director.

garage as a key place to protect your home

Although the number of burglaries in Poland is steadily declining - 16,821 in 2023, 14,073 in 2024 and 7,390 in 2025 - home security cannot rely solely on a solid front door. Increasingly, the attention of thieves is focused on garages, which on the surface look well secured, but in practice are sometimes the weakest point in the security system.

That's why it's worth looking at the garage as the first line of home defense. It's the place where we store cars, bicycles or sports equipment, and sometimes it's also a direct route to the inside of the building. Modern sectional gates with increased resistance, such as RC2 class, significantly impede access to uninvited guests, providing residents with greater peace of mind and a sense of security.

energy efficiency that pays off

The gate is the largest moving element in the facade of a house - up to 14 m² in area. If it is leaky, it can negate the effects of thermal insulation. New-generation sectional models allow you to save even a few hundred zlotys a year on heating, and subsidy programs such as "Clean Air" allow financial support for the replacement of old structures.

Poland a powerhouse in exports

Few people know that Poland ranks second in the world in woodwork exports, second only to China. The value of foreign sales exceeds 3 billion euros a year. WIŚNIOWSKI sends its products to 35 countries around the world. Polish gates protect homes from sunny Italy to the Arctic, where in Spitsbergen they have to withstand tests of strength from... polar bears.

Smart gate, peaceful home

In an era of increasing threats of cyber attacks and data leaks, protecting smart home systems is becoming a priority. WIŚNIOWSKI Connected combines convenience with security, allowing you to control your garage door from anywhere, while keeping your users fully protected. All data is encrypted in accordance with current security standards, and information storage is done in compliance with RODO. The application requires only basic registration through popular social media platforms, without requiring sensitive personal information. This allows users to use the smart home without worrying about the privacy and security of their information.

The gate as an element of design

With the development of technology, the approach to aesthetics has also changed. The gate, often the largest element visible from the front, has become the building's business card. In addition to anthracite, warm, caramel-colored wood tones are gaining popularity, giving the facade a natural and friendly character. Increasingly, designers are opting for facade gates that blend into the facade and become almost invisible. As a result, the front of the house remains visually coherent, and the gate subtly combines protective and insulating functions, without disturbing the harmony of the entire facade.

International Garage Door Day - celebrated on September 18 at the initiative of the WIŚNIOWSKI brand - is an opportunity to take a fresh look at an element that discreetly accompanies millions of families every day. It is also a reason to be proud - Polish products not only conquer the world, but also set the directions of development of the entire industry.
