Safety in the child's room

05 of December '19

Safety is a value that cannot be overestimated. In order to provide it for the youngest we must take care of the appropriate equipment for their rooms. Among other things, it is worth paying attention to the windows. Appropriate solutions and mechanisms used in the woodwork can protect against accidents, injuries after accidental glass breakage, or even burglary.

Every day

A child's room very often resembles a real training ground. Which toddler does not like to run, jump or climb on the furniture? One of the dangers that await him is an open and unsecured window. If only the child manages to get on the windowsill (if only to watch the birds flying behind the glass) - it is not difficult to have a mishap, which is reported in the media from time to time. Sometimes the window doesn't even have to be open. Some toddlers learn very quickly how to handle the handle.

A good solution is the so-called usher locks. These are simple mechanisms that prevent the window from opening without the use of a key - without it, the sash can only be tilted. Another option are special handles that can be opened only after pressing the locking button. Such protection in the case of small children is often sufficient," explains Artur Głuszcz, production director of MS więcej niż OKNA.

But what about the toys that sometimes fly in the rooms of toddlers? What if they accidentally hit the glass and break it? The risk of injury is then enormous. Here the solution is to use an appropriate glazing package - the so-called safety glass. One option is laminated glass, that is, glass in which two 3-millimeter panes are glued together with two layers of film (in such glass, shards of broken glass are still bonded with film). Another type of safety glass is tempered glass, which when broken breaks into many indistinct pieces, which are more difficult to injure. Even during cleaning.

And against burglary

Woodwork also plays an essential role in protecting our homes and apartments from burglars. And according to research, it is through windows and patio doors that thieves usually get inside. In order to make it as difficult for them as possible, it is worth opting for windows with mechanisms that additionally protect against forced entry from the outside. They are really effective!

In MS więcej niż OKNA products, in the standard version we use Multi-Matic hardware from the Austrian company MACO, including an anti-burglary striker cooperating with movable mushroom bolts, as well as an additional package including 3 strikers and a handle with Secustik mechanism. This mechanism prevents the window from being opened from the outside by moving the bolts in the hardware, explains Artur Głuszcz.

Complementing the hardware are anti-burglary glass. These packages consist of two 4-millimeter sheets glued together using a special PVB film. These panes, even when broken (which is not easy), are difficult to break due to as many as four layers of PVB film.
