Swisspearl: we want to influence the emergence of sustainable architecture

29 of March '24

The question of whether our materials are built sustainably is one of the three most frequently asked questions by architects and investors, along with questions of price and quality. Investors want buildings that are built with a low carbon footprint, minimized waste, efficiently heated and people-friendly.

In most of our manufacturing plants, electricity comes from 100% renewable sources. In all factories, we treat water and reuse 84% of it.

In a changing world, where we are increasingly being asked whether we produce sustainably, one thing does not change. We are always asked about quality," stresses Waldemar Kantczak, Chairman of the Board, Managing Director of Swisspearl Poland Ltd.

Here we have a lot to say. Fiber-cement is a material made of natural raw materials. That's why roof and facade coverings made by Swisspearl are ideal for sustainable buildings:

  • They are thin, strong and suitable for lightweight structures with a low carbon footprint.
  • They are noncombustible, moisture-resistant, open to diffusion and resistant to mold and rot.
  • They are resistant to water, wind, snow, drying, sunlight, UV radiation and temperature fluctuations.
  • They are easy to assemble and disassemble - so they can be easily reused or recycled.
  • They are sturdy, durable and virtually maintenance-free.

Every week we transport 1550 tons of goods from west to east in Europe on our own trains. In doing so, we reduce CO₂ emissions. The cellulose fibers used in the production of fiber-cement come from sustainably managed forests. This is not standard in our industry. We supply building materials and components that provide quality buildings that meet DGNB, BREEAM, LEED, Nordic Swan Ecolabel and Sunda Hus requirements.

Therefore, when asked if we produce in accordance with sustainability principles, we answer yes," adds Waldemar Kantczak.
