BAU 2027 in Munich – a global hub for innovation in construction, architecture, and design

01 of October '26

From January 11–15, 2027, Munich will once again become the global capital of the construction industry. This is all thanks to the next edition of the BAU trade fair—the largest and most prestigious event dedicated to architecture, building materials, and construction systems.

For years, BAU has been recognized as the global leader in its category and serves as the most important meeting place for manufacturers, architects, designers, investors, contractors, and representatives of scientific and research institutions. The event sets the direction for the development of the entire construction sector by showcasing the latest technologies, innovative materials, and solutions that address the challenges of modern construction.

Record-breaking scale and international character

The significance of the trade fair is best illustrated by the results of the most recent edition, which took place in January 2025. BAU brought together over 2,200 exhibitors from 58 countries and approximately 180,000 visitors from around the world. The exhibition was spread across 18 exhibition halls, creating the largest and most comprehensive platform for showcasing products, technologies, and services for the construction industry.

It is also worth noting Poland’s strong showing at the previous edition. Our country ranked 5th in terms of the number of exhibitors and 4th among the countries represented by the largest number of visitors. This confirms the growing importance of Polish companies on the international stage and their active participation in shaping the future of the European and global construction industry.

A comprehensive overview of the construction industry across 18 exhibition halls

BAU 2027 presents a wide range of products, materials, and technologies for modern construction, including, among others:

  • building materials and structural solutions (A1–A2)

  • modular and prefabricated construction (A2)

  • roofs, facades, and photovoltaics (A3)

  • interior finishes, ceramics, and sanitary fixtures (A4)

  • flooring systems and coverings (A5–A6)

  • aluminum and metal technologies (B1–C1, B2)

  • Joinery, security systems, and parking solutions (B3–C4)

  • wood and timber construction (B5)

  • construction chemicals (B6)

  • machinery, tools, and smart building systems (C2–C6)

Key Themes of BAU 2027

One of the key pillars of BAU 2027 will be materials and resources, with a particular focus on the renovation of existing buildings and the implementation of environmentally friendly solutions. Technologies and products that help reduce CO₂ emissions and lower the energy consumption of production processes throughout a building’s entire life cycle are becoming increasingly important.

Climate protection and adaptation to climate change remain equally important areas. The focus will be on solutions that support the development of resilient, sustainable urban neighborhoods capable of meeting the challenges of modern urbanization, extreme weather events, and growing environmental requirements.

The third thematic area concerns the changing living environment—that is, new models of construction that respond to dynamic urbanization processes. In this context, the effective use of space, the flexibility of building functions, and design tailored to the needs of a changing society become crucial.

Equally important are digitalization and increased productivity, which are having an ever-greater impact on the entire construction sector. The development of artificial intelligence, BIM technology, digital twins, and advanced analytical and design tools is accelerating the industry’s transformation, increasing its efficiency, precision, and innovation.

The Global BAU Brand

Although the trade fair held in Munich remains the main and most prestigious event in BAU’s portfolio, the brand has also been developing an international network of specialized industry events for years. This allows participants to keep up with the latest construction trends and technologies not only in Europe but also in Asia.

The digitalBAU 2028 event will take place March 21–23, 2028, in Cologne. This event is dedicated to digital solutions in the construction industry, bringing together the worlds of IT, architecture, engineering, and industry.

The leading trade show in the Asia-Pacific region— BAU China — will take place October 28–30, 2026, in Beijing. BAU China will focus on comprehensive system solutions for the construction industry. The event combines four trade shows into one: FENESTRATION BAU China, CADE China Architectural Design Expo, RealTech Expo, and R+W China Roofing and Waterproofing Expo.

The most anticipated event in the glass and facade industry in Southeast Asia— GlassTech in Kuala Lumpur—will take place November 10–12, 2026. GlassTech Asia focuses on all aspects related to glass and construction, covering the manufacturing and processing sectors, the supply of glass processing machinery, and the construction and facade industries.
