Apartment inspired by boho style by GOSZCZDESIGN project

17 of July '20

In this interior, an artistic, inspiring spirit combines with a breath of modernity. Both the investor and the architect wanted to make it cozy, but also classic. In addition to the stucco on the walls, it's mainly the accessories that create this space - the blending styles together create a contemporary version of boho.

It's impossible not to fall in love with this townhouse from the early 20th century. It's a unique place, where you can still admire the original modernist facades and Art Nouveau decors. The investor of this 54-square-meterapartment invited architect Monika Goszcz-Kłos from the GOSZCZDESIGN studio. The designer created a space that escapes all schemes - elegant, feminine, infused with the color of artistic bohemia. Where the classics of arrangement standards are diversified with a crazy twist in boho style.

in the spirit of french bohemianism

The investor dreamed of a space conducive to creative work. Full of beautiful objects, original solutions and elements that are proof of her unfettered imagination. To meet these expectations, the architect not only relied on the inspiration of domestic design tradition, but also reached a little further, to the nonchalant style of French bohemianism. Thus, the timeless whiteness of the walls, the light-colored parquet laid in a chevron pattern, as well as the decorative moldings and stuccowork, became a blank canvas for the design avant-garde present in the trinkets adorning almost every corner, or in the modern blocks of furniture and kitchen-televisionsets. At the same time, the latter became not only an idea to give the interior a contemporary flair, but also helped the architect deal with the shortcomings of pre-war construction, cleverly hiding furnishings and... uneven walls.

unfussy boho style

In the open living area (consisting of a living room, dining room and kitchen), the De Arte sofa attracts attention. It is the heroine of this interior - soft, upholstered in gray velvet, with a rare elliptical shape. For Monika Goszcz-Kłosgave the rest of the room to accessories - soft cushions and plaids in soothing pastel colors, wooden stools playing the role of chairs, shiny coffee tables and glass bowls, platters and vases. From organic shapes, to geometric silhouettes reminiscent of retro aesthetics, to sublime lines full of elegance.

Decorations - they are definitely the ones that indicate the aesthetic direction of the entire interior, building a non-fussy boho style that fosters creativity. Just like the paintings, sculptures and prints coming their way by the outstanding Polish artist Dorota Buczkowska, whose subtle, feminine work adds lightness to the space. But to ensure that the abundance of accessories does not overwhelm the relatively small room, the architect placed a large glass panel in a shade of graphite next to the mat-finished kitchen, reflecting the view from the window, diffusing the sunlight and thus optically enlarging the entire living room.

french relaxation zone

Another solution that builds the impression of more space can be seen in the lobby. This usually narrow and long section of the apartment has been shortened and widened thanks to impressive glazing leading to both the hostess's bedroom and the bathroom. In this way, the corridor was illuminated, and transparent elements of the arrangement "opened" the private part and built an impression of greater spaciousness.

Bedroom relaxation will be fostered by calm colors, ethnic patterns, natural materials such as wood, marble, glass

Bedroom relaxation will be fostered by calm colors, ethnic patterns, natural raw materials such as wood, marble, glass. However, when instead of relaxation we opt for a refreshing shower, we just need to go to the other side of the corridor. There we will be greeted by patterned tiles in a classic style, simple forms of furniture and ceramics, as well as rows of mirrors that enlarge the interior of the bathroom, although they also serve a less representative function - additional storage for cosmetics and accessories. We don't have to fear, the glazing visible immediately after entering will not deprive us of privacy. This is because both the shower and the toilet area have been located further down the room, hidden from unwanted glances.
