In the latest episode of the "Foundations" podcast, we talk about architecture that doesn't end at the design board or the lecture hall. This time, the starting point is the activities of the Habitat Now student club, an initiative that has been demonstrating for years that architecture students can make a real impact on the surrounding space while still studying. Guests and guest of the episode are: Martyna Idasiak, Paulina Wojnarowicz and Jan Warchol - people actively involved in the circle's activities, who talk about what teamwork, implementation of community projects and responsibility for architecture created "here and now" look like.

student circle as a laboratory of architecture

Habitat Now operates at the intersection of education, practice and community engagement. It's a space where students learn not only design, but also communication, teamwork and decision-making in real-life conditions. Projects carried out as part of the circle often go beyond the walls of the university - they reach local communities, public spaces and real users.

The conversation raises an important thesis: student architecture does not have to be solely an academic exercise. It can be a tool for testing ideas, responding to social needs and building professional responsibility even before graduation.

from idea to implementation

One of the key themes of the episode is the process - from the first idea, to design, to implementation. Habitat Now members talk about the challenges of budgeting, logistics, paperwork and working with various stakeholders. These are experiences that are often missing from the classic college curriculum, but prove invaluable in later careers.

The talk also shows that mistakes are a natural part of learning. Activities in the study circle allow you to make them, analyze them and draw conclusions - in a safe, but at the same time very realistic environment.

architecture as responsibility

A strong theme of architect's responsibility resounds in the episode. Habitat Now's projects often involve communal spaces, temporary activities or interventions that are small in scale but of great social significance. It is in such activities that the real impact of architecture on users' daily lives is most easily seen.

Guests of the podcast emphasize that working in the circle has taught them to be sensitive to context, to dialogue with their audiences and to think of architecture as a process rather than a one-off design gesture.

The latest episode of the Foundations podcast is a story about how student initiatives can become a solid foundation for future careers. Habitat Now appears here not just as a study circle, but as a space for forming attitudes, values and competencies that are crucial in the architecture profession today.
