Contemporary architecture very often evokes extreme emotions. Some admire it, while others reject it because they find it incomprehensible. But is the problem really with the architecture itself? Or perhaps we simply don’t know the history and the architects behind it?
The guest on episode #7 of the series “Conversations About Architecture” is Robert Konieczny — one of Poland’s most outstanding architects and the founder of the KWK Promes architectural firm. He is known for projects centered on simple yet exceptionally functional forms, in which he focuses on the appropriate selection of modern technologies and carefully chosen materials, ensuring that the building can fully meet the needs of its users.
In a conversation with Agnieszka Kalinowska-Sołtys, he touches on many topics; among other things, the architects discuss the direction contemporary architecture is taking, why people often don’t understand it, and what makes buildings begin to speak to us.
In this episode, you’ll also hear that architecture is, above all, about stories — of people, places, and decisions. Every form, every detail, and every structural solution has its own meaning. Nothing is random, because good space is created through many deliberate choices that together form a cohesive whole.
If you want to better understand contemporary architecture and discover what lies behind the buildings you pass every day, this episode is just for you. Episode 7 of the “Conversations About Architecture” series is available on YouTube and Spotify on the Archisens channel: LINK
