Hangar - a creative space designed by the studio On the Mezzanine.

23 of July '20

Hangar is no ordinary place. It was created on the initiative of the architects who run the On the Mezzanine studio, and they designed its interior themselves. It is a space where designers, designers and engineers meet. Hangar was created to exchange ideas, experiences and stimulate creativity. Such coworking often results in interesting work.

Everyone who is involved in design in the broadest sense is welcome at Hangar. The architects of the On the Mezzanine studio wanted to create a place where specialists in various creative fields can exchange thoughts and support each other. This allows them to carry out often complicated, complex projects. The Hangar is not only about work, but also about spending time together - you never know when a good idea will pop into your head!

Basia Hyjek: What was the inspiration for this project?
Mezzanine: The uniqueness of this project is that in addition to being a coworking space, it is also the headquarters of our design studio. This interior represents the essence of our style as designers (of course, as a commercial space, not a private one). We were inspired by ourselves - our personalities as women and designers.

Basia: Where did you get the idea for such a selection of colors and materials?
On the mezzanine: In the interior we used our favorite colors: light gray (dove), pink, green, black and white. There is a lot of plywood, which is one of our favorite materials.

Basia: How did you come up with this idea for dividing the space?
On the mezzanine: The division of space came from function - we wanted an open kitchen, which we often use together. The girls and I cook several times a week! We needed a large conference room for meetings with investors, as well as in terms of the training sessions we hold. The remaining space was divided into cubicles - each with four desks. One cubicle is occupied by our studio.

Basia: What was the biggest challenge in creating this space?
On the Mezzanine: The biggest challenge was the wagon shape of the room and the fact that we only have windows on one wall. An additional difficulty is the entrance from the short side.
