Agnieszka Rózga-Micewicz is the new Municipal Conservator of Monuments in Gdansk! She has replaced the long-time conservator, but her competencies match the responsible position she has assumed. What will be the tasks of the new Gdansk MKZ and how does she envision the city's development?
As Piotr Grzelak, deputy mayor for sustainable development and economy of Gdansk, assures, Agnieszka Rózga-Micewicz was chosen for the position of Municipal Conservator of Monuments in the Office of the City Architect due to her high level of competence in the subject matter, as well as extensive experience in the field of shaping space. This is because Agnieszka Rózga-Micewicz is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Gdansk University of Technology, for 19 years she worked in the Gdansk Development Office as a designer, and then for 2 years in the Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area as a coordinator for land use and climate.
For the last year, she was head of the spatial analysis team at the Spatial Planning Office of the City of Gdynia. Since 2007, she has been combining her expert activity in spatial planning projects, revitalization and urban development strategies with her own urban planning practice and creative activity. Her passion is art, and privately she often paints herself (exhibitions of paintings and graphics).

Piotr Grzelak announced that Agnieszka Rózga-Micewicz will head an expanded conservation team.
My mission is the harmonious development of the city, based on the balance between the protection of cultural values and the contemporary needs of space use. The main goals in my new position will be the protection and creative use of the city's cultural heritage, the use of design solutions that take into account changing climatic conditions and the search for solutions for the contemporary development of historical urban assumptions. I also want to integrate the development of the city with its historical identity.

Agnieszka Rózga-Micewicz replaced Janusz Tarnacki, who was associated with the protection of historic monuments in Gdansk, including serving as MKZ, for more than 30 years, in the position of Municipal Historic Preservation Officer. Janusz Tarnacki retired in February.
