"Niemczyk - the last rebel of architecture" is the first film dedicated to Stanislaw Niemczyk - a prominent architect who died on May 13, 2019. This important architect for Tychy was the author of such projects as the development of the resort in Paprocany and the H7 housing estate in the Glinka district. He also made a name for himself as the creator of exceptional churches, including the Holy Spirit Church in Tychy, Jesus Christ the Redeemer in Czechowice-Dziedzice, and the still under construction St. Francis of Assisi and St. Clare Church in Tychy. Stanislaw Niemczyk was also the recipient of many awards and honors, including an honorary award from SARP (1996) and the Per Artem ad Deum medal for contributions to sacred construction.

Niemczyk in the eyes of architects and friends

The film by Marcin Zasada and Marcin Nowak, produced by the City of Tychy and the Tychy City Museum, shows the architect's design work in an unconventional way. Among the interviewees were leading, not only Silesian, contemporary architects: Tomasz Konior, Przemo Łukasik (medusa group), Maciej Miłobędzki (JEMS Architekci), Dr. Ryszard Nakonieczny, Robert Skitek (RS+), Dietmar Eberle, as well as friends and colleagues: Stanisław Boczar, Wojciech Czech, Marek Niklewicz and Rev. Franciszek Resiak. New insights into the character and design heritage of the film's protagonist are provided by contributions from historian Dr. Sebastian Rosenbaum, reporter Dorota Brauntsch and philosopher Ewa Chudyba.

As Marcin Zasada says about the film:

The biggest challenge of the film about Stanislaw Niemczyk was to tell the story about him and his works in such a way as to prove that they belong to contemporary European culture. Certainly, Niemczyk deserves a place in the architecture textbooks. And locating him in what we can call a space of universal values was also the goal of the film. Niemczyk proved his visionary nature at many stages of his career: when he was one of the first to start paying tribute to ecology in architecture (the resort in Paprocany), when he defied modernism by seeking the uniqueness of individualism (his housing projects in Tychy and Mikolow), when in sacred architecture he was able to combine the sacred with a lack of splendor, when he placed intimacy above grand scale.... In these and not only these issues, architecture acknowledged him only years later.
