Results of voting for the Audience Award - "Wood in Architecture".

We have completed online voting for the Audience Award - the best the sis made with wood, submitted for the 5th edition of the "Wood in Architecture" competition. The nationwide competition was organized by the Faculty of Architecture at Bialystok University of Technology and companies: Unihouse and Danwood. 10 projects took part in our poll and made it to the finals of the competition. The largest number of votes (3488), and thus the first place was awarded to the diploma work "Hotel" by Patrycja Mróz from the Faculty of Architecture of the Bialystok University of Technology. Congratulations!

The "Wood in Architecture" competition has been organized for five years, and its purpose is tospread knowledge about thevalue and uniqueness of wooden architecture. The jury's evaluation criteria include both the value of architectural solutions, in which the versatile qualities of wood are shown, and the quality of the relationship between the material and the shaped form.

A record number of 53 diploma works from architecture faculties from all over Poland were submitted for this year's edition of the competition, and were judged by a jury composed of Dr. Tatiana Misijuk, prof. PB, dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the PB (chairwoman of the jury), Waldemar Jasiewicz (Podlaska Okręgowa Izba Architektów RP), Tomasz Duryński (Danwood), Tomasz Perkowski (Unihouse branch of Unibep), Wojciech Popławski (OP Architekten), Marcin Marczak (chairman of the Podlaska Okręgowa Izba Architektów RP). From 53 works, the jury selected 10 finalists, and from among them selected the winning works. In December, Architecture & Business gave a vote to its male and female readers, announcing a contest for the Audience Award. Male and female Internet users were able to vote for a month for their favorite thesis project, from among the 10 works admitted to the finals.

Thewinner was Patrycja Mroz's thesis "Hotel", made under the direction of Dr. Robert Misiuk at the Faculty of Architecture at Bialystok University of Technology. The project received as many as 3488 votes! The author will receive a diploma and a one-year subscription to the monthly magazine "A&B". It is worth mentioning that the work of Patrycja Mróz previously received the Third Prize awarded by the jury of the competition.

For the location of the Apart Hotel, the designer chose an unfenced and undeveloped plot of land in the southern part of Bialystok on Konstantego Ciolkowskiego Street. The site is in close proximity to the Zwierzyniecki Forest, as well as the University of Bialystok. The site consists of four buildings, one of which was developed in detail by a student.

In the main building, consisting of eight floors, the author proposed a living area, reception, restaurant, swimming pool and gym. The other three differ only in the sixth floor, which in one is residential, while the other two are occupied by an observation deck. According to the student, the inspiration for the lump of the hotel was the irregular crown of a tree.

Second place went to the diploma project "White Water.The pain of oblivion" by Dominika Cieplak and Kamil Federyga, made under the supervision of Dr. Piotr Winskowski, prof. PK at the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology, receiving 2433 votes. The work by Damian Antoni Kasperowicz entitled. "Wedding House in Krynica Morska.Searching for Contemporary Celebration Architecture," by Dr. Jerzy Grochulski, Prof. of the Warsaw University of Technology and Karol Żurawski at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology, received 238 votes, and thus third place.

When analyzing the results, minor violations in the number of votes cast for the first two theses were noted, but the number of votes did not affect the result of the plebiscite.
