"Triangle 57" - Student idea for an asylum for architects and filmmakers

16 of April '24

Modern society, especially people associated with art and creativity, are increasingly looking for spaces that meet their functional needs, while providing an inspiring environment for work and rest. In response to the growing needs of creative people, Bartosz Tenenberg, a student of Architecture at the Wrocław University of Technology, proposed the "Triangle 57" project. The concept calls for the creation of an estate - 14 houses in Wroclaw's Stabłowice district.

Bartosz Tenenberg's design path began with in-depth landscape and technological analyses, taking into account the surrounding context, such as the vicinity of the WUWA 2 model housing development and the historical urban layout of Triangular Street, which is listed in the register of historical monuments. The proximity of these two elements influenced the shape and character of the designed architecture.

The overriding idea of the project was to create an asylum for architects and filmmakers, who usually live under great stress and operate under time pressure. The result was solid blocks set in a dense park, designed in the manner of English gardens. The openness to the greenery provides residents with protection from the hustle and bustle of the city, while offering peace and relaxation. The one-story houses are equipped with a series of interior atriums and terraces, guaranteeing numerous amenities for residents and providing a backdrop for their various activities.

The process of shaping the bodies of the buildings began with inspiration from the characteristic layout of Triangle Street - the starting point for the form and function of each house. The result was a division into three modules catering to the various needs of the residents. Great emphasis was placed on a clear separation of the common and private areas, with the aim of creating a harmonious space that complements the creative work of the residents. A key role in communication is played by clearly marked axes, connecting the various elements of the house, ending with glazed openings. The idea is that the surrounding dense greenery not only provides a backdrop for safety, but also inspiration for creative work.

A distinctive feature of the architecture is the use of large-format windows, also with a sliding system. Thanks to them, an unrestricted flow of light is ensured, which significantly increases the comfort of work and leisure of residents. The facade has been covered with colored concrete, with a characteristic porous texture. In the case of roofs, slopes have been used, resulting from the process of shaping the mass, thus guaranteeing higher rooms in common areas.

Theurban layout of the planned complex stems from the need to provide residents with as many common spaces as possible. It was inspired by the extension of the view axes and the location of the surrounding buildings. Each of the houses has a north-oriented entrance, allowing better use of space in the south- and west-facing parts. The basis of communication here is a network of promenades, varied with small architecture in the form of benches and canopies. The paths have been richly planted with greenery, which further promotes a relaxing atmosphere.

The dedicated module is an atrial house of 165 square meters, the body of which refers ideologically to the concept of creating an artistic asylum. Its heart is the courtyard, serving as the center of the residents' lives. The interiors have been designed in an ascetic manner, at the same time providing a symbolic backdrop for everyday life. The space is flexible and open to various modifications, which is important especially for those working in creative fields.

"Triangle 57" is intended to be a unique place, harmoniously combining architectural innovation with creative and relaxing space. Each house here becomes not only a place to live, but also a source of inspiration and comfort. All this means that the estate can provide a unique environment for those seeking an inspiring space to live and work.
