The quintessence of minimalism. Ascetic white apartment designed by ENDE marcin lewandowicz.

18 of December '20

Arranged according to a design by Marcin Lewandowicz of the ENDE studio, the interior of a 48-square-meter apartment is located on the first floor of a multi-family building in one of Poznań's housing estates. The ascetic design, which is the quintessence of minimalism, assumed the use of as few textures, colors and furnishings as possible.

The first challenge for the designer was the lack of a specified purpose of the interior - until the end of the project, it was not clear whether the space would serve a residential or office function. When it was almost fully furnished and equipped, it became clear that the interior would serve a residential function.

It was necessary to buy some decorative details, a bed, a sofa, two armchairs and make the room more cozy and comfortable for the resident. Still replacing the sofa and bed with desk top furniture, this interior can be adapted for office work in one day. It is versatile enough in design that architects, accountants, lawyers can work here comfortably, and at the same time a person looking for peace, tranquility and not looking for an excess of visual stimuli will also settle well here," writes the author of the project.

In the end, the apartment has three rooms: a bedroom, which also serves as a study, a bathroom and an open space living room with a kitchenette.

The minimalist interior is dominated by pure white - white includes cabinet fronts and chairs, lamps and accessories - which is broken by equally bright colors - gray and natural wood.

The sterile white of the cabinets gives the interior a laboratory character. A variety of colors against the background of gray-white walls and furniture are juicy monstera leaves and the delicate beige of natural ash wood. A small hallway was optically enlarged by a wall of mirrors with a hidden door to the bathroom. The now popular door with a hidden frame was clad with a sheet of mirror. After this element was made, it turned out that the wider opening of the wing posed a danger of chipping the edge of the mirror. It was necessary to install a door closer with a function to limit the opening of the leaf on the wing. An unusual solution for apartments, but ultimately quite practical, the designer adds.

The living room furniture was mounted on technical cantilevered metal grid shelves, which add a bit of industrial character and allow flexible arrangement of storage space - the shelves can be rearranged at will and supplemented with other elements. The light armchairs in the living room are garden furniture - on sunny days they can be exposed to a small backyard garden.

The main lighting is formed by matte-covered aluminum system profiles with strips of warm leds, and standing lamps resembling Japanese lanterns in form shape additional, cozy interior lighting.

In the bathroom, the designer envisioned an open shower stall, cabinets with an under-counter sink, a hanging toilet bowl and an under-counter washing machine. A characteristic element of the bathroom design is a round mirror in a light ash frame.
