Reserve the time in your calendars! From February 11 to 14, Poznań will be taken over by the BUDMA International Trade Fair, where the editors of A&B are preparing something special!

This year's BUDMA International Fair of Construction and Architecture will be held under the theme "Green Future of Construction". The event will focus on issues such as energy efficiency, prefabrication and green architecture, seeking answers to the challenges of the modern world and the directions of development of the construction industry. A&B is a media partner of the BUDMA 2025 International Trade Fair.

The fair will also include ARCHI-STRADA - a meeting of the architecture industry around the sustainable future of architecture. And at it. February 13, the settlement of the competition Zamieszkanie and a debate on the greatest challenge of the present times - residential architecture.

Organized by A&B and produktydladomu.pl, the Zamieszkanie competition is aimed at male and female students of design faculties throughout Poland. In it we are looking for innovative and ecological approaches, design courage and innovative solutions that answer the question of contemporary forms of residence.

Why take part in the competition?

Habitation is such an important architectural issue that it should be constantly raised. This competition not only brings the benefits of prizes and glamour, but the main benefit comes from the form of obligation to participate in important topics. Whoever will speak out significantly on the issue of habitation will mean a lot and can do a lot of good for architecture ," Prof. Tadeusz Pietrzkiewicz, a member of the competition jury, said in an interview with A&B.

Competition entries can still be submitted until February 1. The results of the competition will be announced on February 13 on the ARCHI-STRADA stage. The winner or winners, selected by a jury consisting of Prof. Beata Kapecka of the Faculty of Interior Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Prof. Tadeusz Pietrzkiewicz of the Faculty of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Magdalena Buczyńska-Zapała, president of the SARP Krakow Branch, Małgorzata Tomczak, editor-in-chief of A&B, and Ola Kloc, secretary of the A&B editorial board, will receive a prize of PLN 5,000. Two honorable mentions of PLN 1,000 each will also be awarded!

The announcement of the results and the award ceremony will be followed by a debate, whose participants will face one of the most pressing problems of our time - residential architecture.

Founder of KWK Promes studio and one of the most recognizable Polish architects. Foreign member of the French Académie d'Architecture and the Association of Architects of the Czech Republic. Winner of many competitions in Poland and abroad. His PLATO gallery in Ostrava, Czech Republic, was one of the five Best Buildings in Europe in the Mies van der Rohe competition. His own house, the Konieczny Ark, won the Best House in the World - Wallpaper Design Award 2017, and the Museum of the Centre for Dialogue Przełomy in Szczecin won the titles of Best Building in the World 2016 (WAF) and Best Public Space in Europe 2016 (CCCB in Barcelona). Winner of the Prize of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in the field of architecture. During the event Robert Konieczny short speech, you can't miss it!

Architect, urban planner and partner in one of the world's most important studios - Henning Larsen, which has completed such projects as the Opera House in Copenhagen and the iconic Harpa concert hall in Reykjavik. Mateusz Mastalski is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology, he gained professional experience in the offices of medusa group, KWK Promes, MVRDV and COBE, and for more than 15 years he has lived and worked in Copenhagen. Among other projects, he led the development of the Imperial Shipyard in Gdansk, a concert hall in Ostrava or the Vejlands Kvarter social district in Copenhagen.

Co-founder of the Poznan studio Ultra Architects, which knows a lot about Habitation! Their designs for single-family houses and multi-family buildings have been recognized in numerous competitions, including the Architectural Award of the President of Poznan named after Jan Baptista Quadro (Broken House) or NAWW (TenementHouseat Wildecki Market 3 in Poznan, Residential Complex at Trójpole Street). A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Poznan University of Technology, Vice President for Creative Affairs of the Poznan branch of SARP, winner of the Europe 40 Under 40 award in 2009, designer of the exemplary thermal modernization of the Poznan block of flats on Osiedle Chrobrego, which was included in the album "101 most interesting Polish buildings of the decade."

President of SARP Krakow Branch. A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology, she gained professional experience in Cracow studios: MOFO Architekci and, as vice president of the board, at BE DDJM Architekci (now Baumschlager Eberle Architekci Krakow). She also runs her own design studio, OAK Office for Architecture.


The debate will be moderated by Małgorzata Tomczak, editor-in-chief of A&B. It promises to be an extremely interesting discussion, please join us!
