Lokal Bakery - a Piotrowice bakery designed by Joanna Kubieniec and Katarzyna Długosz

13 of April '20

At Lokal Bakery, not only will you marvel at the variety of baked goods (the king here really is bread!), but you'll also have a chance to catch a glimpse of the bakery backroom, where the real magic happens! And this is thanks to Joanna Kubieniec and Katarzyna Długosz from the {tag:Studio} studio.

The architects were given the task of designing the interior of the second bakery under the Lokal Bakery banner in Piotrowice. They had 130 square meters at their disposal. In addition to being able to look into the back room, the designers also created a sizable display of baked goods. In the center of the room they placed a large counter, and behind it were clearly displayed, among other things, various types of coffee. Baked goods were exposed not only behind a glass display case, but also in a specially designated rack.

The decor of the bakery did not overshadow the bakery awesomeness piled up in the display case. The architects used natural materials, and limited the color palette to wood, white, gray and black. The colors were meant to refer to the bakery's dominant products: (crunchy) bread crust, flour, spices.

The space underwent a real metamorphosis - the previously existing partition walls here were demolished, the hanging ceilings from part of the room were removed, so the reinforced concrete ceiling with visible ribbing saw the light of day. The floor is made up of trowelled concrete. Thanks to the use of semi-transparent materials, more daylight reaches parts of the bakery - customers can preview the process of baking bread.

The main hall was divided by the architects into three zones - you can eat together at a large table, alone, looking across the street at the window, or on pink sofas in a smaller group. A platform with seating has been fixed from one of the window displays, and there is also the possibility to go out onto the terrace.

The designers have succeeded in creating an open place, full of natural light and greenery, which unites rather than divides. Every bread lover will find something for himself here, and can even meet other "bread eaters".
