On October 13 this year, we learned about the projects nominated for the European Union Prize in the Mies van der Rohe 2024 Contemporary Architecture Competition.
Among the 362 projects completed between April 2021 and May 2023 were 9 from Poland, they are: Reconstruction and modernization of the National Library in Warsaw designed by Konior Studio and SOKKA Katarzyna Sokolowska, Pedestrian and bicycle footbridge from the dam to the Castle Hill in Dobczyce by Biuro Projektów Lewicki Łatak, Błonie Market designed by Aleksandra Wasilkowska Architectural Studio, Public multi-family housing development in Łowicz designed by PA+U Rafał Mazur, GDA ŁUKASZ GAJ, School for children from Ukraine in Warsaw by xystudio, two projects by JEMS Architekci office — LPP Fashion Lab — Pracownie Projektantów Mody in Gdansk and Browary Warszawskie, the expansion of the building of the State Music School in Jastrzębie-Zdrój to include a concert hall by SLAS architekci and the Miedzianka Shaft by KWK Promes. Robert Konieczny's studio also won a nomination for its design of the Plato Gallery of Contemporary Art in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
The objects will be evaluated by a jury consisting of: Frédéric Druot, Martin Braathen, Pippo Ciorra, Tinatin Gurgenidze, Adriana Krnáčová, Sala Makumbundu and Hrvoje Njiric. Winners of the award will be announced in April 2024.
