Private wellness area designed by Gaska Studio

08 of June '20

This design evokes pleasant associations at first glance. It transports us to a green part of the Canary Islands or to a luxurious seaside hotel on the mainland. No wonder the architects from Gąska Studio received the Grand Prix for it at the international competition for designers and architects Tubądzin Design Awards.

As a competition task, participants had to present selected products from the Tubądzin brand collection. Architects from {tag:pracownie} - Marta Sowińska-Gąska and Łukasz Gąska decided to create a wellness zone open to the surrounding landscape. Interior and exterior intermingle and correspond with each other. The zone has an intimate character, being almost an integral part of the trees and shrubs growing around it.

The interior was designed as an extension of the garden. When you get tired of the heat, for example, you can take refuge in this zone, where only peace and quiet will accompany you. The architects wanted it to be a private, intimate place where one can calm down, rest and relax.

in harmony with nature

An important part of the project is the rotating walls, thanks to which users can not only protect themselves from unwanted glances, but also from rain or wind. The design is based on a systemic solution for the facade - the infill, in this case Tubądzin tiles, was placed in special frames. This allowed for the almost complete removal of the barrier between inside and outside, blurring the boundaries between what is on the side of nature and what is on the side of architecture. This was also helped by the use of consistent finishing materials on the walls and elevations, including wood imitating ceramic tiles.
