Mateusz Górnik and Andrzej Truszczyński on the 40 Under 40® list.

For the past twelve years, each year The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design have announced a list of forty promising young European designers before the age of forty - 40 Under 40®. Among the 2020 award winners are two Polish architects - Mateusz Górnik of GÓRNIK Architects and Andrzej Truszczyński of TKHolding.

In previous years, the list of artists who, in the opinion of the jury, will have an impact on the near future of European architecture, included Tomasz Kon ior of Konior Studio (2008), Robert Konieczny ofKWK Promes studio (2008), Bjarke Ingels of the Bjarke Ingels Group (2008), Fabrizio Barozzi and Alberto Veiga of the Barozzi Veiga studio (2008), Beata Goczoł of the Goczołowie Architekci Studio, Barbata Grąbczewska and Oskar Grąbczewski of theOVO Grąbczewscy Architekci studio (2009), Marcin Kościuch and Tomasz Osięgłowski of Ultra Architects studio (2009), Piotr Nawara and Agnieszka Szultk forming nsMoonStudio studio (2010), Wojciech Subalski of HS99 studio (2010), Roman Rutkowski (2013), Melike Altinisik ofMAA studio (2017), Ewelina Jaskulska of ARTECTONICA studio (2018), Ondřej Chybík of CHYBIK + KRISTOF studio (2019), and in the previous edition - Jakub Cieślik of VERSO Group studio, Anna Paszkowska-Grudziąż of 81.WAW.PL and Łukasz Skorek from the KUMSTUDIO studio.

Mateusz Górnik

Mateusz Górnik is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at Wroclaw University of Technology, where he also completed postgraduate studies in Project Management in 2005. Since 2009, together with Magdalena Górnik, he has been running his own architectural firm Górnik Architects; he is also co-founder and vice president of the design group GF Projekt - Industrial Engineering Center. He gained professional experience in offices in Italy (Grattarolla Associate & Partners, Sidercad and D'Appolonia in Genova), Ireland (working as assistant chief architect for the engineering office Jacobs Engineering Group on projects for pharmaceutical complexes and the Cork Airport) and Scotland. Co-author, among other projects, of a house in Bochnia and a house in Jura.

Andrzej Truszczyński

Andrzej Truszczyński is a graduate of the Silesian University of Technology, he defended his doctoral thesis at the Cracow University of Technology. Already during his studies, he started working for the German firm Schick Architects, and in 2010 he became a manager there, then co-owner, and then CEO. Since 2019, he has been president of the TKHolding Truszczyński Kobierzewski group of architectural firms. Among others, he is co-author of such projects as the Water Factory in Szczecin (the largest facility of its kind under construction in Poland, to be completed in 2022), Wodny Park Tychy (awarded at the World Architecture Festival in Amsterdam for the design of the most environmentally friendly facility) and Chelm Water Park.
