Nysa's asphalt market. Concretions continue

28 of May '21

The tender for the Nysa market has been awarded! - reported local media a few days ago. We have not yet cooled down after the discussions sparked by the topic of the concrete market in Kutno, and the trend of similar revitalizations in cities continues. Markets turned into parking lot-like asphalt plazas are undoubtedly on the increase.... Nysa is soon to join the distinguished group of owners of a concrete market. Therenovation should start within a few weeks and will last until the middle of next year.

great for walking, concrete square

The plans include new safe paths, new tree plantings, a swing bench, a fountain and several other attractions. The renovated space will turn into a great place for walking, relaxing, in turn, vegetable stalls are expected to appear regularly on weekends in place of parking lots. We are curious about the final result.

- we read a comment on the visualization of the planned market metamorphosis on the social network I love Nysa.

no to concrete

Meanwhile, in response, among residents speaking out on social media and in comments, "you can hear" mostly opposition. Residents ask for greenery, for people-friendly, but also environmentally friendly urban spaces.

I do not like, the destruction of existing greenery - the creation of additional parking lots (marked on the plan with the number 4), and stalls on weekends. It is time to end the concretization of Nysa !!!

- writes Ms. Renata, and below Mr. Arkadiusz adds:

I do not like it, the destruction of existing greenery - the creation of additional parking lots, and stalls on weekends. It's time to end the concretization of Nysa !!!

Unfortunately, similar opinions are the vast majority. Why? Residents see the visualizations and know that the "new plantings and flowers" mentioned in the assumption, or the "fountain and other attractions" between the concrete square and the concrete parking lot will not create the space they need.

feedback feedback, renovation starts!

We have awarded the tender for the renovation of our Market Square. The document was signed by Piotr Bobak, City Secretary, who manages our investments. The renovation should start within a few weeks and will last until the middle of next year. As part of the work, new safe roads and squares will be created, and there will be a lot of new trees. There will also be a fountain and several other attractions. We will gain another nice space for relaxing and walking. On weekends, stalls with local products will appear in place of parking lots

- informs Ilovenysa.pl portal, the mayor of Nysa, Kordian Kolbiarz.

The renovation of Nysa's market should start within a few weeks and last until the middle of next year. More changes will follow soon after the completion of the first stage, the Market Square. There are also plans to replace the surface of other squares (from concrete to newer concrete...), but also to invest in new pedestrian and bicycle paths and environmentally friendly lighting. Nysa will see modern, energy-efficient lamps and small architecture elements, such as benches and garbage cans. These, unfortunately, will be selected only from the city's adopted urban furniture catalog, so they will not distinguish Nysa from other towns.

second stage, or cutting out greenery

In addition to new road and sidewalk surfaces, greenery will also undergo changes. Some of the existing greenery will be cut down to make room for parking. In turn, new plantings will appear along the townhouses. Greenery will also encroach on the area around the Jozef Pilsudski monument, which today is surrounded mainly by cars. This line of trees will also be visible in front of the new square, which will be created in front of the City Scales House. An additional attraction in this part of the square will certainly be a multimedia fountain with led backlighting.

Traditionally, new plantings will be made as part of such tasks. These will be decorative trees and shrubs," assures Piotr Bobak, secretary of the City, the Nysa Nasze Miasto portal quotes.

Decorative trees and shrubs will certainly fit perfectly into the atmosphere of the concrete square, just like the city's residents or tourists. Because who in Poland, doesn't like to spend some time, especially in summer - in an open, concreted space?
