AS VGB balustrade with the widest range of applications confirmed by the National Technical Assessment!

16 of May '23

Aluron's offer includes a new proposal - the AS VGB all-glass balustrade, which is an indispensable element of modern residential and commercial construction. It protects users and enhances the aesthetic value of the entire project.

What's more, the company's premiere system has the widest range of applications on the market compared to competing products, most of which are used only to protect high opening windows, known as portfenetr or French balcony.

Comprehensive National Technical Assessment

Aluron, as the only manufacturer of aluminum systems, has in its portfolio products for every segment of the opening window market. For this reason, it has created a solution to make balustrades attached to:

  • aluminum, PVC and wooden portfenetr windows,

  • wood and PVC joinery equipped with proprietary aluminum caps,

  • mullion and transom facades, including the AF 50KW Quantum photovoltaic facade,

  • steel substructures.

Such a wide range of construction possibilities of the AS VGB system thus follows directly from Aluron's business philosophy as an aluminum multisystem provider. What's more, all of the above applications and installation methods have been confirmed by the most extensive National Technical Assessment currently on the market, issued by the Building Research Institute. This document is necessary for the legal introduction of such products into the construction market.

Construction possibilities of the system

The maximum dimensions of the balustrades are 2600 mm wide and 1300 mm high, making them suitable for installation on both single and double-hung windows. Their fillings are made of translucent tempered glass with VSG safety film in thicknesses ranging from 10.8 mm (55.2) to 20.8 mm (1010.2). What's more, the AS VGB system provides for the possibility of equipping the balustrade with active photovoltaic glazing, generating electricity from solar radiation.

Aluron's new solution, depending on project requirements and investors' expectations, can be differentiated in terms of design and installation method. The following variants of external balustrade equipped are available:

  • glazing fixed on vertical edges with/without mullion,

  • bottom profile,

  • bottom profile and post.

The unique aesthetics of the construction are provided by hidden mounting screws, drains and connectors. The system also includes solutions dedicated to export markets, including the German market, where the overlap value of the balustrade filling (glass) on the profile is 18.5 mm.

AS VGB - a solution to the problem of delamination

A significant problem faced by end users of all-glass balustrades is the so-called delamination. This process involves the uncontrolled partial delamination of the glass sheets that make up the structure's filling. This translates into a weakening of the protective function of the balustrade and, above all, a deterioration of its aesthetic qualities. The cause of this phenomenon is the adverse impact of atmospheric conditions, primarily the penetration of rainwater and high temperatures.

Aluron has eliminated this problem 100%. This is because it has equipped its balustrades with an extremely aesthetically pleasing catch applied to the upper edge of the glass. The solution is available in two variants: aluminum or stainless steel (INOX). The use of a handrail also increases the comfort of the balustrade.

Gemini VGB subsystem

A variant of Aluron's new solution is the Gemini VGB subsystem, which is used to create balustrades for overlay structures mounted on wood joinery. In this sophisticated design, in which the balustrade glass is integrated into the window frame of the Gemini system, all the fasteners for the glass are masked by the frame profile. In addition, the bottom and top edges of the glass, as with the AS VGB, are secured by a filigree aluminum or stainless steel profile. As part of the system, glass thicknesses from 10.76 to 20.76 are possible. The VGB all-glass balustrade is compatible with most Gemini overlay systems. Thanks to its clever design, it can be installed under construction conditions.
