thunderstorm

A&B 02/2021We'll start chronologically - the real stir in February 2021 was caused by the issue edited by Jakub Szczęsny, and not only because of the cover! The architect created (wrote and illustrated) especially for this issue a unique "Fairy Tale to Conquer Hearts" - a visual and intellectual feast.

The issue is crowned with an extremely interesting and entertaining conversation between Małgorzata Tomczak and Jakub Szczęsny. Inside you will also find Kuba Snopek's polemic against Tomasz Malkowski's controversial text from the Hits and Kits series.

how much does an architect earn?

A&B 04/2021Another bestseller is the April issue posing the question whether architecture is a good business. In it, the article by Piotr Zbierajewski about the condition of the architectural profession in the context of the earnings of young architecture students resonated most strongly.

In recent years we have been observing a paradoxical and consequently dangerous phenomenon. On the one hand, our profession is perceived as elitist and prestigious. On the other hand, architects are one of the lowest paid professions in Poland. Why is this happening and why is there an ongoing mass exodus of young architects to other industries? - Zbierajewski asks.

In the issue, architects from the APA Wojciechowski studio - Szymon Wojciech owski and Michał Sadowski, Zbigniew Maćków from Maćków Pracownia Projektowa and Maciej Miłobędzki from JEMS Architekci also talk about architecture and business.

about the industrial city

A&B 06/2021The June issue of A&B was devoted entirely to Lodz. The issue complemented the international congress "Regeneration of Industrial Cities," of which A&B was a media partner. The opportunities, challenges and threats in the development of Lodz as a post-industrial city were written about by the city's mayor, Hanna Zdanowska, about the city andnot only, Malgorzata Tomczak talked with Professor Jerzy Hausner, and there is nothing wrong with being average - Blazej Ciarkowski with Professor Mariusz Sokolowicz of the University of Lodz.

In addition to the Lodz topics, the issue also features, among others, conversations with Christian Pagh, curator of this year's Oslo Architecture Triennale, of which we are a patron (you can find more information about OAT here) and Aleksandra Wasilkowska under the title "The center is on the periphery."

what's ahead of the project?

A&B 09/2021The September issue is another issue co-created with the studio. This time we put A&B in the hands of the team from A2P2 architecture & planning, who talked about how their practice centered on the pre-design stage - mock-ups, participation, mapping and identifying the needs of users and investors.

In addition to the behind-the-scenes work of the studio of Monika Arczynska and Lukasz Pancewicz, in the pages of the September issue of A&B you will read, among other things, about cohousing for seniors, and find a conversation with Kuba Snobek and Tomasz Świetlik about social responsibility for public space.

metaphysics of the garage

A&B 01/2022Last but not least - this year's January issue of A&B edited by Warsaw-based studio BBGK under the title "The metaphysics of garages, or values in practice." This issue is divided into eight blocks (and a bonus from the editors - Hits and Kits 2021!): Values, Urbanism, Community, Diversity, Environment, Construction, Mobility and BBGK.

In the issue, created under the guidance of architects, you will also find interviews with Grzegorz Piątek, Marlena Happach, a review of Lance Hosey's book by Joanna Erbel, a review of multifamily housing projects implemented under government programs, and an assessment of the New Center of Warsaw project.
