Brabank. This is where the city is headed

27 of April '21

Until a few years ago, eyes were averted from an abandoned post-industrial site in Gdansk. One of Tri-City's most interesting locations, rich in unique views and centuries-old history, was neglected and scared off residents and tourists. But not the visionaries. The first act of courage was to plant the unique block of the World War II Museum here, the second - the Brabank apartment building.

The first phase of the original residential and commercial complex was very well received. The Invest Komfort development was praised for its perfect integration into the Motława waterfront and its post-industrial architecture combining geometric, modernist style with modern function. For the building's private terrace with impressive greenery, from which one can enjoy the panorama of the Old Town and the river. For the idea of public space: eating establishments that quickly became fashionable and for the walkable surroundings of the apartment building. For the original sculpture in front of the development, which highlighted Brabank's ties to the city's all-around culture.

The project was selected in 2007 as a result of a large international competition, recalls Jacek Droszcz, co-author of the architectural design of Brabank from the Gdynia-based "Kwadrat" employee, who is also the author of the World War II Museum building. - Many architects and studios from all over the world competed in it, which is hardly surprising, since the amount of the prize offered by the organizer, Invest Komfort, was really impressive. We managed to win, and the competition work became the basis for drawing up a local development plan. I'm extremely happy about this, because it gave a boost to the city's even excellent transformation of post-industrial space.

Praise was followed by a flurry of awards. From local: President of Gdansk, the most interesting residential investment (in the plebiscite of Trójmiasto.pl) and Construction of the Year to the prestigious "International Property Awards".

Building consistency

The construction of 4 buildings from the second stage of the project is coming to an end, i.e. more than 130 apartments and approx. 20 commercial premises. Later this year, the construction of another 3 buildings from stage II will begin, which will fill the previously empty space opposite the World War II Museum. Their location and function will make ideal use of the site's advantages. From the terraces of the apartments' windows you will be able to admire views of Gdansk that no one has admired before.

We cared about the past and the future at the same time," assures Jacek Droszcz. - The Invest Komfort investment sets a new urban trend in Gdansk: the city's migration towards water. This is where the city is heading and where its attractions will be concentrated. An architecturally refined and popular meeting place. Not only Danzigers, but also tourists from all over the world.

The surroundings of the following buildings are part of the tourist trail along the Motlawa River, and there is no shortage of recreational areas, lawns, walking alleys, service establishments for cafes and restaurants, artists' studios and small galleries. The main axis of the spatial composition is a passage routed along the former course of Walowa Street. One of the main attractions - the arrangement of water reservoirs that mirror the beauty of Brabank.

The momentum and details

In addition to the urban planning assumption and the design referring to the history of the place, the developer took care of the details of Brabank. The apartments are located on Stara Stocznia Street, at the confluence of the Motława River and the Radunia Canal, right on the waterfront. They are finished with materials of the highest quality.

Elegant bronze, noble brass combining with white Italian marble dominate. Thecommon areas of the apartment building look impressive," says Joanna Kazibudzka of Invest Komfort. - The design of the modern, spacious interiors, from the representative lobby, through the club room with a library, to the relaxation and recreation area, will certainly attract the eyes of guests and meet the expectations of residents.

Appreciation is due to the idea of greenery. In addition to a row of small-leaved linden trees and low greenery exposing the facades, a green enclave of relaxation has been planned inside the complex, looking like a botanical garden in the shape of a ravine running along the buildings. The symbiosis with nature is also emphasized by small resting squares planted with vegetation so as to guarantee openness to the panorama surrounding Brabank. Interestingly, the greenery here does not lose its qualities after dark, and in fact acquires new ones thanks to ingeniously designed lighting.

Visualizations tell the rest of the story. It's worth helping your imagination with them, especially before deciding to invest in Brabank. A place where the city is heading and whose best time is still ahead.
