The Mercure Wien City Hotel in Vienna, designed by AKA Studio, which is led by Agata Lapuchowska and Karolina Kowalik, won the Archello Awards in the "Hotel Interior of the Year" category. The victory was decided by the users of the international Archello platform, who recognized this realization as the best among the nominated hotel projects.

We are even more proud of the award, as AKA Studio was the only Polish studio nominated by the jury in this category and one of the two finalists from Poland in the entire competition," comments arch. Agata Łapuchowska.

Project recognized in three international competitions

The Archello Awards is not the first award for Mercure Wien City. The project has already won the International Property Award 2024 in the Hotel Interior for Austria category and the LIV Hospitality Design Award in the Architectural Design Hotel Midscale and Lifestyle category.

These awards show that a thoughtful, consistently guided interior of a chain four-star hotel can compete with premium and luxury projects, if it is based on a coherent idea, respect for the local context and high-quality details, comments arch. Karolina Kowalik.

Consistent aesthetic narrative and local context

The starting point for the interior concept was Viennese Art Nouveau. On the one hand associated with the paintings of Gustav Klimt and the monumental architecture of Otto Wagner, on the other with the more form-saving current of Wiener Werkstätte. This co-op created utilitarian objects and craft objects in a structured, geometric style. Its holistic approach to design, distinctive language of forms and still vibrant values became the starting point for building a new, consistent aesthetic narrative for the Mercure Wien City Hotel.

A hotel in the heart of Vienna

The Mercure Wien City is a four-star hotel located in the very center of Vienna. Guests can walk to St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Belvedere and the Prater Park, among others. The Mercure brand, part of the Accor chain, places a strong emphasis on authenticity and references to local culture - each hotel has its own style, combining chain standards with regional elements. The investor and operator of this development is the Essendi Hotel Group (formerly Accor Invest), which has many of the Accor-owned brands in its portfolio. The Accor Group is one of the world's leading hotel companies, with more than five thousand six hundred hotels in more than one hundred and ten countries.
