green market

Ciechanow's existing marketplace will soon turn into a Green Market. What is behind this modernized version of the market? A commercial building will replace the small, temporary bazaar structures. In addition, the development plan also includes a square for trading and a space with a canopy and infrastructure, small architecture, greenery, paths. The tradition will be preserved. Twice a week markets are held here, with a large number of vans and cars. Access roads and parking lots will be provided. The Green Market is intended not only to replace the market, but to create a modern and safe meeting place for residents. The project also includes park space, catering and sanitary facilities.

We are setting ourselves another big investment goal. This will be another beautiful, impressive and serving place for the residents of Ciechanow. We plan to lease the newly created commercial and service spaces to entrepreneurs for the first three years for a symbolic zloty per square meter. Renovation of the area is expected to help improve trading conditions. It will be an environmentally friendly investment, using a number of ecological solutions, assures Mayor Krzysztof Kosinski.

The market will be located just 1,200 meters from the market, making it an excellent alternative for residents to meet. There are green areas and residential buildings nearby.

zoning the space

The Green Market in Ciechanow was designed by architects Agata Parzentna and Michal Kucharski, commissioned by Ciechanow City Hall. In designing the market, they designated two main zones, which they divided into functions, aiming to organize the space. Two parts of the project were created, the market and the parking area. The commercial and service building was designed on a U-plan. All around, a road and parking spaces were designed for suppliers, owners of the premises, as well as maintenance and emergency vehicles. Access to the premises from the outside also allows for additional lighting.

In the design, the access gates have been covered, retail will be possible under the roofs. The inner square, will act as a small market as before. The upper floors of the building will be used for cafes, a green terrace and technical rooms. The whole building consists of smaller, simple modules, based on a reinforced concrete contruction, which allows for free arrangement of the space inside the premises, depending on the needs of the tenants.

new life of the market

The most important function will be the square, partially covered with a roof. The mayor of Ciechanow announces that in addition to cyclical markets, the space will also be used for cultural events, Christmas fairs and special events.

Complementing the surrounding greenery, the small architecture corensponds with the minimalist concept of the project. In addition to the necessary parking for the convenience of residents and vendors, the area surrounding the Market will remain green. Trees and shrubs will be planted, and the whole, including the park, will be well lit.

technical side of the project

The architects are betting on ecological solutions. The ventilation system is based on heat recovery. Photovoltaic panels were installed on the roof. The building's facades are designed in white with white 10 x 3cm steel profiles, which seamlessly transition to the balustrade on the roof. The green roof acts as an attractive terrace, but also provides insulation. The storefronts are glazed, and a special space for signs has been designed above them.

The architectural and urban design of the Green Market is a combination of simple solutions and flexibility. Modern marketplaces reach for new city-forming functions, thanks to which they win over all other trade facilities. They provide opportunities for outdoor gatherings, promote small, green businesses, and create space for new events.
