One of the dilemmas facing architects and designers of public facilities and commercial buildings is the choice of the right material for floor finishes. After all, it is not enough for such a product to be durable, resistant to damage and easy to keep clean. It must also have non-slip properties and effectively dampen unwanted noises, as well as impress with its design and comfort. Created by Forbo Flooring Systems Polska, the FLOTEX collection of flocked car pets is an innovative solution that meets these criteria.
Flocking
Flocking is a technological process of applying a decorative layer of textile shearling to objects made of fabric, wood, glass, plastic or rubber. Textile teat is a plastic fiber cut into lengths of 0.3 to 5 mm. Textile shearling is called flocking. The surface of the object to be flocked, is covered with glue. The glue is applied with a spray gun, roller or screen-printing method. Then, using an electrostatic device, in an electric field of 60 to 90 kV, the flock is covered with a layer of glue. The flocked object is grounded. The electric field causes the flock fibers to move toward the flocked surface at high speed and penetrate the adhesive layer, positioning themselves perpendicular to it. Once the glue has cured, electric extraction removes the unglued fibers. The flocked surface looks like suede. This method is used to decorate car equipment (especially dashboards), toys, furniture, prints on T-shirts, caps and e-cigarette battery cases.
