Poles designed the interior of a hotel in Oslo

20 of July '22

Designers from the Cracow-based Iliard Architecture & Interior Design studio designed the interiors of a Norwegian hotel, combining two disparate spaces into one. What was most important in its creation?

The hotel is located next to Oslo-Gardermoen Airport, which is home exclusively to Radisson Group hotels, including a complex of two complexes designed by Iliard. The two concepts consist of the Radisson RED and the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center. One is intended primarily for pre-flight relaxation, while the other is a meeting and conference venue.

Designing two stylistically different facilities almost under one roof was not an easy task. Some of the public spaces, including restaurants and bars, are shared in the facility. This required a good idea to combine the different hotel concepts so that guests of each would feel comfortable there. The functional revival of the conservatory was also an important design task. We are happy to have achieved this, and today the place is eagerly used by guests as a complementary zone between the reception and the bar," says Izabela Kaim-Kalinowska, architect of Iliard Architecture & Interior Design.

Thestylistic differences are evident in the diverse design of the hotel's rooms. In the case of Radisson RED, the decision was made to combine urban character with Scandinavian minimalism. The color tones are more intense than in the other facility, and in this part you'll also find much more eye-catching accents like an unusual selection of graphics or red telephones evoking a retro style.

The Radisson Hotel & Conference Center opted for a more sedate character in the form of a soft, cool color scheme, small accessories or wooden elements. Modern stylized portraits familiar from the Radisson RED were replaced with Scandinavian landscapes.

common areas

When it came to common areas such as restaurants and bars, it was important to find an aesthetic compromise that combined the differing styles and spaces of the two hotels. So the architects and designers at Illiard Architecture & Interior Design opted for a minimalist style.

The space that stands out from this scheme is the hotel 's bar, which has been given an eclectic feel. Here you'll find quilted sofas and velour upholstery, as well as plenty of unusual accessories and accessories. Above all, however, the attention is drawn to the lighting, composed of large circles and bulbs connected by metal racks. The light source in this hotel bar becomes more than a basic fixture.

When designing the restaurant space, it was important to ensure adequate comfort for those using this space during lunch or breaks in meetings, so all areas on the first floor can be an extension of the restaurant.

Both the common and private spaces in the two complexes needed to be unobtrusively integrated, while emphasizing the differences created by the dominant functions of each hotel.
