Lublin train station: bright, comfortable, safe

01 of May '24

Glass is already present in architecture not only as a decorative element, but also as a structural one. Modern methods of glass production give it properties that make it an extremely useful building material. An example is the Metropolitan Railway Station in Lublin, designed by architects from the Tremend studio, where the glass facade and innovative "box in box" structure play a key role.

In my architectural practice, I use glass both in the design of cubic objects and in the design of interiors. I pay attention to the thermal and acoustic properties of glass, as well as its color and quality. In public buildings where people are present, safety parameters are particularly important - the right choice in terms of the type and thickness of glass or the amount of film [in the case of laminated glass - editor's note]," explains architect Magdalena Federowicz-Boule, CEO and Creative Director of the Tremend studio.

The façade uses COOL-LITE® XTREME 70/33 II glass along with ECLAZ® ONE II based on DIAMANT® glass, for the best possible light transmission and at the same time proper thermal insulation in both summer and winter, which reduces the intensity of the use of lighting, air conditioning and heating, thus reducing utility costs and the operational carbon footprint of the investment. The glass used is tempered, with a high class of fire resistance, making the glazed space not only comfortable and functional, but also safe. PRIVA-LITE® variable-transparency glass has been used in some of the office spaces, giving the station's office workers access to spacious space or discreet privacy on request.

Glass, thanks to its excellent properties, allows natural light to illuminate interiors, while offering a wide range of functionality and high aesthetic qualities. The glass facade of the Lublin Railway Station is its showcase and proof that glass can meet any challenge.
