For years, we've grown accustomed to the idea that photovoltaics on the roof must be black. Mr. Leszek, not long ago, choosing photovoltaics meant having to accept dark "rectangles" on the roof, which often conflicted with the architect's vision. Today you say that SunLACE photovoltaics can be almost invisible. Is this a revolution in roof aesthetics?
Leszek Zamelczyk: It definitely is. At swisspor Polska, we believed from the beginning that technology should not dominate architecture, but serve it. Colored photovoltaic modules were already available, but with significantly lower power than the classic ones. It was also difficult to achieve satisfactory module performance and an attractive price. In 2026, color in the SunLACE system is no longer an experiment, but a conscious tool in the hands of the investor. We are able to offer photovoltaic modules in colors as close as possible to the shades of ceramic and cement swissporTON roof tiles. As a result, the installation ceases to be a "foreign body" and becomes a natural extension of the roof slope.

You mentioned the maximum approximation of colors. How should this be understood in practice? Does the roof actually look uniform?
Leszek Zamelczyk: Let's be honest - smooth-textured glass and fired clay are two different materials that absorb and reflect light differently. The ideal match would be if we had the same materials. However, even so, by using colored modules and adding color-coded roofing, we achieve a high degree of color harmony. The installation harmonizes with the color of the roof tiles, creating an aesthetic monolith. The investor no longer has to choose between ecology and the prestigious appearance of his house.
One often hears concerns that colored photovoltaics are less efficient. Do we pay for the beautiful appearance with less energy produced?
Leszek Zamelczyk: This is how it looked in the past. In previous years, there was a trade-off between great looks and efficiency. In practice, this meant that these colored modules either had to be more than the classic ones to provide the same power on the roof, or we were forced to fit less power on the roof. The efficiency of the colored versions did not exceed 16-18%, which, with classic modules offering more than 20%, was a significant difference. Nowadays, the efficiency of good color modules often already exceeds 20 percent, which is only 2 percentage points less than the excellent quality full black modules we use. So, with a view to significantly improving their efficiency and significantly reducing their price - we decided to incorporate this solution into our SunLACE system. These panels already offer very high yields that more than meet the needs of a modern home.

In return, the investor gains something priceless: full design freedom. Today we can cover with photovoltaics the roof of a historic tenement in the color of natural clay tiles or a modern residence, preserving the color purity of the form. The gain from "hiding" the installation in a larger area often more than compensates for the minimal differences in the performance of a single module. For most investors, this minimal compromise is insignificant compared to the huge benefit they gain - a flawless appearance of the building mass.
To whom are these solutions dedicated? Is this product exclusively for the premium segment?
Leszek Zamelczyk: The premium segment and modern design offices are the natural leaders, but interest is growing in every group. We see great potential in renovations of buildings under conservation, where traditional panels would never get approval for installation. But it's also a solution for anyone who builds a home for years to come and treats it as a showpiece.
Investors in 2026 understand that the roof is the "fifth façade." If we care about the color of the plaster or window woodwork, why should we accept the random appearance of the roof? How is the installation of the colored modules with the rest of the roof? Is it different from the standard SunLACE system?
Leszek Zamelczyk: Technically, the system remains as intuitive and safe. The roofer installs them in exactly the same way as the SunLACE system in black. The key here is the consistency of the entire system - we provide a complete set: from the colored modules to the dedicated finishing accessories. It's a complete turnkey system that makes the roof earn its keep.
You mentioned renovations. Can SunLACE color systems be used on existing roofs with swissporTON, formerly CREATON, tile?
Leszek Zamelczyk: Yes, and this is one of our biggest market advantages. If someone a few years ago laid a tile such as SIMPLA, KODA or KAPSTADT, and today wants to add photovoltaics, he doesn't have to install disfiguring structures. He can replace some of the roof tiles with colored SunLACE modules. Thanks to the perfect color match, the roof upgrade is done without compromising its aesthetics. It's an evolution, not a revolution on the roof.
