Vitrintec - with the environment in mind

23 of March '21

Zero waste and green enterprise is something that has become a key thing these days. The primary aspect of this procedure is the positive impact on the environment, customers and your own corporate culture. You can't be truly effective if you don't make this a goal from the very beginning. All company processes should be created with energy and material savings in mind.

What material is more ubiquitous than plastic? Undoubtedly aluminum, but unlike, for example, plastic bags, which threaten marine life and destroy the planet, aluminum is actually good for the environment. At least it is, if we take the time to recycle it. So why do it? The reasons are many. It provides many environmental, economic and social benefits saves energy, time, money and precious natural resources; creates jobs and helps pay for social services that improve the quality of life for millions of people.

How does the lack of aluminum recycling harm the environment?

Globally, the aluminum industry emits millions of tons of greenhouse gases annually, such as carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming. Although aluminum accounts for only 1.4 percent of a ton of trash by weight, according to the Container Recycling Institute, they account for 14.1 percent of the greenhouse gas impacts associated with replacing an average ton of trash with new products made from virgin materials. Aluminum smelting also produces sulfur and nitrogen oxides, two toxic gases that are key components of smog and acid rain.

How many times can the same piece of aluminum be recycled?

There is no limit to how many times aluminum can be recycled which is why it is such a boon to the environment. It is considered a green metal, which means it can be recycled many times without any loss of material. Recycling aluminum has never been cheaper, faster or more energy efficient than it is today. People are saving energy by recycling aluminum.

Recycling saves 90% to 95% of the energy needed to produce aluminum from bauxite ore. It doesn't matter if you're making profiles, cans or roof gutters, it's simply much more energy efficient to recycle than to make aluminum from virgin natural resources.

Being green not only improves our planet and environment, but also reduces negative health effects in our communities. According to the EPA, higher greenhouse gas emissions can harm human health. At Vitrintec, we have long made sure that the aluminum that is used to manufacture the systems is in a closed loop, meaning that it can be reused many times over.

More than recycling

The profiles produced by the company are the lowest profiles available on the market, so aluminum consumption is kept to a minimum. This is one of many nods to nature. Since its inception, the company has operated in accordance with the principles of sustainable production. All activities are dictated by concern for nature, so green energy from photovoltaic cells is used, powering the production halls with it. In addition, work is done with electro-efficient tools.
