On December 27, 2023, Dr. Piotr Turkiewicz was recalled from his position as Malopolska Provincial Conservator of Monuments.
At the request of the General Conservator of Monuments, Bożena Żelazowska, Piotr Turkiewicz has been dismissed from the position of provincial conservator in the Małopolska province. Piotr Turkiewicz had held the position since February 4, 2022. The name of the person who may become the next conservator is unknown. Until a new Malopolska Provincial Conservator of Monuments is appointed, his duties are performed by his deputy, Katarzyna Techmanska.
In accordance with the request of the General Conservator of Monuments, there were personnel changes yesterday in the position of Malopolska Voivodship Conservator of Monuments. As stated in the Act on the Protection and Care of Monuments, the provincial conservator of monuments is appointed by the provincial governor at the request of the General Conservator of Monuments indicating a candidate for the position. I would like to point out that listening to the voices of the clients of the Provincial Office for Monument Protection in Cracow, I see the need for an in-depth analysis of the functioning of this unit and the implementation of improvements in the proceedings conducted there ," indicates Małopolska Voivode Krzysztof Jan Klęczar.
This is another resignation of the provincial conservator of historical monuments. A few days ago, Igor Strzok, who had been sitting in thePomorskie Voivodeship Historic Preservation Officer's chair since June 2019, was dismissed.
