The Warsaw Greenery Board has announced that the implementation of the Integrator Square in Bielany is starting. This is a project that is to result in a new square: greener, less concreted. The 5,000 square meters will be covered with trees, shrubs and perennials, as well as benches. Part of the surface will be concreted.

We are talking about the square at the intersection of Al. Zjednoczenia and Kasprowicza Street. The Greenery Board informs that residents will be able to enjoy the green space at the beginning of the second quarter of 2022. That's when the first stage of the works will be completed.

The Warsaw Greenery Board is responsible for the project. The contractor for the investment is Oskarbud Artur Stolarzak. The cost is about PLN 1 million 30 thousand.

green, friendly space

The square in front of the Bielański Integrator of Entrepreneurs is to be transformed into a full green space for residents' meetings. The investment area has been divided into three areas. To begin with, the old pavement will be demolished. One large flower bed will be established along the retaining wall, where urban gardeners will plant 8 trees, including 4 large Pallida Dutch lime trees. The remaining space, with a total area of almost 500 square meters, will be planted with shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses.

In turn, new greenery and wooden seating will also be installed in front of the post office building. The plans include planting a variety of perennials and bulbous plants, as well as 14 woody shrubs. The two lawns there will be renovated, and the 6 trees growing closest to al.

Unification will be protected with a trellis to shield their root systems. New paving will be added in the immediate vicinity of the building.

Two pots with woody shrubs will be placed in front of the entrance to the Bielany subway station, and a bed of perennials and grasses will be established on the existing lawn.

Perennials and various species of shrubs will appear in the area, including forsythia, common ivy, bent-grass taffy, bouquet hydrangea, jasmine, laurel. The composition will be complemented by bulbous plants - tulips, narcissi, Siberian onions, Persian chequerwort or giant garlic.

The new square will feature 7 Warsaw Benches and seats on a wooden platform. Lanterns and trash garbage cans will also be installed, and a fogger will be installed in the northern section to provide residents with pleasant cooling on hot days. The entire area will be accessible to people with disabilities.

The arrangement of the space of the new Integrator Square will be made in accordance with the concept of greening Zjednoczenia Avenue, which was developed by the Warsaw Greenery Board as part of the "Green Streets" public consultation. It is worth mentioning that the idea of a place for local integration of residents turned out to be so interesting that it gained approval from the Bielany District Office, which decided to provide financial support for this investment. Ideas for a new square in this part of Warsaw also appeared in projects submitted by residents to earlier editions of the participatory budget.

The greening of Al. Zjednoczenia began in 2018, when, as part of the "Green Streets" project, city gardeners planted 25 trees - Dutch lindens in the Pallida variety and a common beech in the Purpurea variety. Last fall another 21 trees were planted - Dutch lindens again, as well as Freeman's Autumn Blaze maples, Evereste apple trees and Kanzan ball cherries.

The Greenery Board said it plans new tree plantings here, and will additionally plant more than 2,700 square meters of shrubs, perennials and bulbous plants as part of the implementation of projects from the civic budget this year as well.
