In the latest episode of the podcast, we take a look behind the scenes of one of the most demanding fields of study - architecture. What does the daily life of students look like? How much passion is there in it, and how much fatigue? Is it possible to combine projects, private life and architecture competitions? Zosia Przydatek, Weronika Trelka, Kacper Stępień and Zofia Poniatowska from the fourth year of architecture at Warsaw University of Technology, winners of an honorable mention in the international Vez River SPA Competition, talk about all this.
architecture starts earlier than you think
For many of them, it all started when they were still children. Drawing, building in the Sims, first house designs and fascination with the city. In a new episode of the podcast, we hear how very different paths can lead to the same place - the architecture department.
The conversation makes it clear: artistic talent alone is not enough. What counts is systematic work, preparation for drawing, but also a high school diploma and... a bit of luck. The students tell in the podcast what their preparation looked like and what surprised them the most once they got to the university.
what does college really look like?
In this episode of the podcast, you'll learn that architecture isn't just about designing buildings. It's also structures, urban planning, history, technology and a lot of self-work. - After classes, a second full-time job begins - at home, the interview's protagonists say. Mock-ups, boards, technical drawings, corrections and on top of that time pressure. Studying teaches not only design, but also how to organize life and work under stress.
first real test of the team
The focal point of the conversation in the new episode of the podcast is the Best Rivers Spa competition, in which the students won an honorable mention. They talk about what it was like to work without a leader, how they made decisions as a team, and what a great experience it was to create a project from A to Z.
This was our first architecture "for real," we hear in the podcast.
is it worth going into architecture?
Finally, the question that every candidate asks is asked: is it worth it? The answer is not icing - it is difficult, expensive and sometimes very hard. But at the same time, it's a study that teaches courage, thinking and responsibility.
