Nice Young People designed a lab at the Poznan School of Banking

28 of May '20

This place has many advantages. The contrasting combination of fiery orange tubes and lightgray furniture is pleasing to the eye, and the functionality of the solutions fits perfectly with the needs of the lab's users. These needs are many, so the space had to be designed with the future in mind - so that the as yet unverbalized ones could be anticipated.

As the Poznań School of Banking is ranked first in Poland among the most popular non-public universities for part-time studies, it had to come into possession of a specialized multidisciplinary laboratory. This is where future engineers, managers, logisticians and IT specialists study. They need the space to, among other things, program a CNC machine tool, weld fiber optics, learn the basics of Arduino-based automation, and take pH or liquid salinity measurements.

workstation organization

Designers from the {tag:Studio} studio were tasked with creating workstations with an associated storage cubicle in a single interior. The space of 77.60 square meters managed to accommodate not only workbenches, but also cabinets.

The laboratory is located in the attic, where the amount of natural light is limited, so in the placement of the individual tables, the Nice Young People were guided primarily by the location of the skylights. As you know, nothing is so necessary in such a space as adequate lighting.

An exceptionally eye-catching solution is the laboratory glassware dryer

science laboratory

The space is dominated by two colors - orange and light gray, which together shape the room. "Fiery" construction of metal tubes cuts away from the gray-blackbackground of cabinets and equipment. It forms each desk and bookcases with lockable cabinets. Thanks to the use of curved tubes, lab users can make use of them, for example, by wrapping obtrusive cables around them. Each of the designed workshop islands can be easily adapted by simple means to a specific experiment. In addition, an exceptionally eye-catching solution is a laboratory glassware dryer made in the same style and with the same materials.
