World award for Polish architects! Success of KWK Promes and Archmondo

Great news from Amsterdam! Two Polish projects have won prizes in the third edition of the Archello competition, recognizing "excellence in architecture and design."

Archello is an architectural platform that connects designers with manufacturers, so the competition aims to recognize both architecture and the materials used in its creation.

The Archello Awards recognizes cutting-edge designs by leading architectural firms from around the world and groundbreaking innovations by leading manufacturers from around the world. The architecture industry faces a variety of challenges, from reducing its carbon footprint to creating affordable housing. I am convinced that in order for architects to meet these challenges, we must learn from the best architectural concepts and use the best building products

- explains the idea behind the competition to Martijn Postmus, CEO of the platform.

Entries for the competition closed in the fall of 2025 (the entry fee depended on the entry deadline and ranged from 150 to 250 euros for architectural design and 225 to 375 euros for product). More than a thousand submissions were evaluated by an international jury of 121 people, including: Jette Cathrin Hopp of Snøhetta, Manuel Gatto and Melodie Leung of Zaha Hadid Architects, Will Plowman of Foster + Partners, Manuelle Gautrand of Manuelle Gautrand Architecture, Alice Dietsch of AL_A or Doriana Fuksas of Studio Fuksas.

The jury chose the winners in each category, with the public also casting their votes. Thus, two distinctions went to Poland - the jury's award in the Office Building of the Year category went to Gambit by KWK Promes, and the audience's award in the Residential Project of the Year (low-rise buildings) category went to Promenada by Archmondo. Other winners of the Archello Award 2025 included, among others, Christian Kerez with his design for a parking lot in Al-Muharrak, Bahrain, and Henning Larsen for his design for a church in Skanderborg, Denmark.

Gambit office building in Gliwice is an ingenious realization of KWK Promes studio by Robert Konieczny. Here, function determines form - the higher parts house offices (with a sloping roof) and an unheated warehouse (a cuboid), while they are connected by a lower workshop. What distinguishes this building most, however, are the unusual materials used in its construction - aluminum pipes.

A company that distributes specialized Gambit pipes commissioned us to design an office and warehouse building that was to be its unique showcase. However, we were asked to do it at the lowest possible cost. So we came up with the idea of using the material they trade in, which they would also acquire at cost. At the same time, we wanted the office and storage sections to form a unified whole. As a result, we designed it to look like a pipe warehouse, which will immediately show what the company does

- the architects mention.

Promenada is an aparthotel in Wladyslawow designed by Gdansk-based studio Archmondo by Piotr Kowalczyk. In cooperation with the topoScape office responsible for greenery, the architects tried to balance the spatial chaos along the popular promenade - Avenue of the Stars of Sports. The restrained, cuboidal, snow-white block is covered with a discreetly sloping, gabled roof.

The horizontalism of the composition is enhanced by the rhythm of the balconies and the metal frame, which, like the cornices of historic buildings, girdles the entire building, connecting the balconies into a single line and enclosing the apartment building in an ephemeral "cage." In a similar manner, vertical divisions were delineated using a metal ribbon, while a metal pergola was designed on top of the entire structure

- Przemek Ciępka wrote about the object.
