Supermunicipal plebiscite: Katowice, Bielsko-Biała, Gliwice, Sosnowiec and Rybnik!

17 of April '20

It is not only new developments that contribute to the urban fabric. In addition to developers and investors, it is also created by people of art, music, activists and social activists.

On the occasion of the 30th birthday of the "reborn" local governments, Gazeta Wyborcza is organizing a plebiscite on Supermiasto. You can vote in it for investments and events in cities across Poland, and today we present Katowice, Bielsko-Biała, Gliwice, Sosnowiec and Rybnik. All interested parties are invited to vote, which runs until April 30 - more information here. This is an opportunity to appreciate the development of cities over the past 30 years and see how much local governments have achieved.

Katowice

In Katowice, you can cast your vote, of course, for the NOSPR headquarters - one of the most interesting new edifices. In addition, festivals were singled out - OFF Festival, which features artists from around the world, and Tauron Nowa Muzyka. Among the initiatives were Katowice's bid for the title of European Capital of Culture.

Gliwice

Gliwice boasts the Arena Gliwice building, which seats more than 17,000 people. In addition, the PKP railway station - today one of the most modern in Poland - was highlighted. You can also vote for the revitalization of the Nowe Gliwice science and business complex and the renovation of the Palm House.

Sosnowiec

Sosnowiec is making fans' dreams come true - the construction of the Zagłębie Sports Park is underway. In addition, you can vote for the creation of Jordan Gardens and Gora Środulska, which has become a recreation center. Also noteworthy is the reconstruction of the frying pan into Centennial Square - which was for a long time one of the most modern city centers in the region.

Rybnik

One of the city's new landmarks is the campus built on the site of a former hospital. The city boasts the construction of a regional road and the renovation of the city's promenades - Sobieskiego and Powstańców Śląskich Streets. Athletes will appreciate the renovated sports hall with swimming pool in Rybnik-Boguszowice.

Bielsko-Biała

By far the city's biggest cultural attraction is the Bielska Zadymka Jazz Festival. In terms of culture, Bielsko-Biala has even more to offer, including the thriving Bielska BWA Gallery. The city can invariably be proud of its care for historic buildings, headed by the railroad station. In the field of ecology, it is worth appreciating the activities of Klub Gaja - one of the first such NGOs.
