How to disenchant the seriousness of the architect's profession? The team from the Wroclaw-based studio Arch_it, which we will visit during the 12th edition of the Festival of Open Architecture Studios, has its own way!

We will start this year's Festival of Open Architecture Studios in Wroclaw, at the headquarters of the Arch_it studio(May 19 at 13:00), then we will move to Chorzow, where we will take a look at the Franta Group office(May 21 at 13:00). We will start this year's tour of open architectural studios in Wroclaw, at the headquarters of the Arch_it studio, which has been operating since 2013, founded by Piotr Zybura and Agnieszka Galwiaczek. Today the team is made up of a total of eleven designers and three dogs, whose unbridled joy at coming to work is a daily inspiration for the team.

The team masterfully measured itself against both new and existing architecture. Among other things, it has made its contribution to the creation of one of the most important contemporary housing estates in Poland - Wroclaw's New Żerniki, as well as to the as well as to restore one of the icons of pre-war modernism - the InfoWuWa pavilion in the unique WuWA housing development in the capital of Lower Silesia. They are currently working on another architectural gem - the reconstruction and modernization of one of the pavilions in Wroclaw's iconic Manhattan designed by Jadwiga Grabowska-Hawrylak.

For more than a decade of activity, the team has contributed a variety of projects to the space of Wroclaw, including residential architecture (including the Zatorska 59 residential building awarded in the XXV edition of the "Beautiful Wroclaw" competition ) and public architecture (for example, the gymnasiums for the XIII High School awarded by SARP in 2023).

However, it is not limited to the area of the capital of Lower Silesia - architects and architects from Arch_it actively participate in architectural competitions, their proposal for DS Jowita in Poznań received the second prize!

We will get to know the secrets of the work of the architects from the Wroclaw studio during the Festival of Open Architecture Studios on Tuesday, May 19, at 1 p.m. We start the countdown now, with a short conversation with Piotr Zybura, co-founder of the studio and president of the Wroclaw branch of SARP:
Ola Kloc: Where did the name of the studio come from?
Piotr Zybura: The source of the name remains unclear, especially since the name was chosen years before the decision to establish the studio.
Ola Kloc: For us, the atelier is...
Piotr Zybura: For us, an atelier is a space where we simply feel good. A comfortable, intimate space, filled with plants, paintings, books and toys, which makes the concept of a workplace simple, everyday and natural for us. It's a place where no one is afraid to think out loud. We value the fact that next to work we have a place to joke together, talk and be ourselves - without too much distance, but with great support.

Ola Kloc: What was your first joint project about?
Piotr Zybura: The New Żerniki estate.
Ola Kloc: A dream project is....
Piotr Zybura: One in which we have a chance for architectural honesty. We dream of a project in which the investor places full trust in us, allowing us to be bold in our material and constructional explorations.
Ola Kloc: Our favorite design tool is...
Piotr Zybura: Our favorite design tool is our team. It may sound immodest, but we believe that the best ideas are born in dialogue. We are a group of people who just really like each other. We talk a lot, look for solutions together and support each other at every stage of the project. This exchange of ideas and trust is the most important technology for us to create good architecture.

Ola Kloc: Does the team have any fixed habits / rituals?
Piotr Zybura: Over the years we have developed a collection of rituals that effectively disenchant the seriousness of our profession. We start the day by reading horoscopes together so that we know what to look forward to that day. We also have a "mood board" on which everyone can draw how they feel on a given day - it's kind of our analog barometer of emotions. From time to time we organize movie nights. Each film is preceded by a professional lecture and presentation. Recently we analyzed "High School Musical" with the same passion with which we approach design;)
